Qsymia - Is anyone taking phentermine and topiramate as two separate pills?

I've been taking phentermine for longer than I should admit & I just added topiramate 25mg 2x a day. The next day it had ruined my coca-cola (1 thing I could not quit) it made it taste flat and metallic, my whole mouth tastes kind of metallic so everything tastes different, a friend "helped" me figured out a way to kinda enjoy coke still (ugh I've been addicted since 12, I really wish they wouldn't have, but they sincerely thought they were being helpful) also I am so tired and thirsty. I am drinking a lot of water. Anyway, I really hope this tiredness goes away. I miss the early days of phentermine when I had a clean home.

Yes.. I take 30 mg. Of Phentermine . I have for 2 months already..lost about 7 lbs .I was 176 and am down to 169. .I exercise and diet regularly but the weight loss stopped and that extra energy was gone after the first month too.. after these two months, the cravings have come back , the doctor prescribed a higher dose of 37.5 mg of phentermine which I don't start for a few more days and he also prescribed Topiramate 25 mg. Which I just started last night..I am prescribed to take a dose in the morning and at night before I go to bed. I do feel still feel tired and no energy which I'm hoping a little coffee will help . And im hungry..ugggh... oh well... I guess it will take time for the two medications to work together... I hope.. I wonder how long this tired feeling will last? Does anyone know?

I took the combo FDA approved med. Qsymia for one year I had no side effects and with walking a about 3 miles a day I lost 65 pounds. I started on lowest dose, then increased to loose my last 20 pounds but I didn't notice any difference, I had no side effects! Then my inurance decided not to cover it so I went from $10 a month to $156 with a coupon discount rom the manufacturer so after about 6 more months I decide to go off of it because of cost, now I'm hearing you can take phenrramine and topramax seperately for around $30 a month? I'm wondering if it will work the same?

I have been taking Phentermine 37.5 for 3 months. I went from 265 and weighed in 8/19/16 at 245. My dr now prescribed me Phentermine 37.5 and topiramate aka topamax 50mg two times a day. I also take blood pressure meds. And my pressure has been crazy high (150/110 in July and 141/103 this month)I haven't started taking the combination yet. When I first started taking Phentermine for a about a week I felt like I was on Adderall or something. I was constantly moving, cleaning or getting EVERYTHING I needed to do DONE. I hope it doesn't make me sick.

I am, Hi luv, I take that and high blood pressure meds. This is my first day and I felt like I'm on an ex pill or something. My blood pressure is up too but I think it's because it was high the day before. But I feel okay my appetite is gone which is good. So I guess it's a good thing. 06/24/15

I have been taking 15 mg of Phentermine twice a day and 100 mg of Topamax twice a day. It has been a year and my highest weight loss thus far has been 116 lbs. I slacked off at the gym a few days or that number would be much higher. I pretty much eat what I want too. I started with the 37.5 mg of Phentermine and it gave me severe anxiety attacks. But I tell you what, my house has never been so clean!!

I first tried taking the two separate pills before Qsymia was approved and got side effects. My doctor told me to try Qsymia because of the extended release formulation and it really made a difference - no topiramate side effects and once per day dosing

Hi, I take that exact combo. At first i felt nothing then major appetite changes. The topamax made me tired so I take the phentermine in the am and topamax later on or around after dinner which is when I get cravings. My doc said that was fine but you may not experience tiredness like I did. I lost 10 lbs though quickly. Its important to drink sooo much fluids. It will help any side effects and get ur hydration flowing. Hope that helps!
