I’m on day 4 of stopping Pristiq and I’ve never felt so awful, brain zaps, dizziness, helplessness etc. Please someone tell me this will stop soon. I was only on 50mg for about 4 months. Doctor suggested cold turkey and should only have effects for a few days but it is getting worse, not better!
Help with Pristiq withdrawals?

Your Dr. is not well informed, apparently. The following literature is from this site, which is a very accurate site:
Do not stop using Pristiq suddenly, or you could have unpleasant symptoms (such as dizziness, vomiting, agitation, sweating, confusion, numbness, tingling, or electric shock feelings). Ask your doctor how to safely stop using this medicine.

Regards and get well soon, masso
Your "dr" should have given you a discontinuation schedule for this antidepressant and you should have been monitored by him/her, and you should have stopped gradually not cold turkey.
General Instructions for Use
The recommended dose for PRISTIQ is 50 mg once daily, with or without food. The 50 mg dose is both a starting dose and the therapeutic dose. PRISTIQ should be taken at approximately the same time each day. Tablets must be swallowed whole with fluid and not divided, crushed, chewed, or dissolved.
In clinical studies, doses of 10 mg to 400 mg per day were studied. In clinical studies, doses of 50 mg to 400 mg per day were shown to be effective, although no additional benefit was demonstrated at doses greater than 50 mg per day and adverse reactions and discontinuations were more frequent at higher doses.
The 25 mg per day dose is intended for a gradual reduction in dose when discontinuing treatment. When discontinuing therapy, gradual dose reduction is recommended whenever possible to minimize discontinuation symptoms [see Dosage and Administration (2.5) and Warnings and Precautions (5.7)].
Listen to my friend masso, he's spot-on. I don't know if you have any left but id ask a pharmacist's advice on what to do because at the earliest would be Monday and then you'd still be asking the misinformed doctor. Get relief ASAP. This is a huge mistake and id let him/her know exactly what he/she has put you through. Don't be afraid to speak your mind. Maybe he'll wizeup and not do that to anyone else.
Hope and pray that you get well soon.

Plus.. Asking for your pharmacist's help.. and you're out of medicine.. you're more likely to receive a few to hold you over if he/she knows you and your records well.
See if there's any compounding pharmacies around so you can get a specific tirate amount.
There's no standard or inclusive list of compounded medications. Pharmacists and doctors compound medications based on the patient's needs. Compounded medications can include anything from topical dermatological ointments to pain. This way you can have any tirate you need be it a cut of 10% every fourteen days to 15% less every thirty days. A doctor just has to write the prescription that way and you find a compounding pharmacy. They're in most towns of medium to large size.
Again, best regards.
Thanks so much for the comments and advice, very much appreciated x
