I would really like my coffee, anyone else not allowed coffee and why?
I just started Amitriptyline 10 mg. I had a coffee after dinner which I rarely do. I usually only drink 1 cup a day. My BP is 153/105. Which is very high for me. Im on a low dose for BP. Could this drug caused the high BP ?
PMES; I really like Kaismama answer I could not live without my coffee, and it really is not a true drug interaction just do as she has said and see what you notice. This is a very low dose of amitriptyline so I really don't feel that you well have that problem.
Hi, i took Amitriptyline for several years, and i was never warned against drinking caffeine? I have always had 2 black coffees' in the morning!? And was advised it was ok to drink alcohol in moderation. I can understand the reason behind not drinking caffeine with this medication, in certain situations. I think it depends on the reason for which you are taking it and at what dosage? Drugs.com do say the following about mixing alcohol with Amitriptyline: "Alcohol can alter the effects of amitriptyline and cause increased side effects. Call the doctor if you experience uneven heartbeats, extreme drowsiness, confusion, agitation, vomiting, blurred vision, sweating, muscle stiffness, feeling light-headed, and seizures.
Thank- you for your answer! The doc says that some people are very senisitive to caffeine!
I have been on it for more than 40 yrs. I have a cup of coffee every day. The problem is that amitriptyline can raise your heart rate and so can the caffeine in coffee. If you notice that its going up, then cut back on the coffee and don't drink a lot of it routinely. As far as the alcohol, I don't drink. The med can make the alcohol get drunk faster.
Its the caffeine. Caffeine causes an increase in inflammation. I changed to decaf. I cannot live without my java!!! Have asked about decaf? ✌
I said to the doc, is it ok to go with decaf coffee and his answer was no coffee! I think I will find a decaf coffee I like and try it anyway. It is one of the joys of getting up in the morning! Thanks for your answer
Hmmmm... I wish I had a better solution!!! Maybe google it! I understand about the coffee!!!
Sorry, i know this isn't my feed, but there is not issue with drinking decaffeinated drinks...
amitriptyline, alcohol, prescription
