I know it sounds like its wrong, but when my daughter was small, she had a fungus infection in her ears and the ENT ordered an eye drop for it. I must have given him a funny look because he explained it won't hurt and there isn't anything better for it for the ears. So I'd say if the dr ordered it, he must know what he's doing.
