I take adderall xr . I had a root canal done and was given novacaine. It was in my molar furthest back in my mouth . I had a hard time breathing or swallowing for a short while . It felt like my throat was closing . But could it have also been the Novocain numbing the back of my tongue or throat giving me that sensation ? By the end of the root canal I felt normal again … super weird feeling
Can the numbing of a back molar root canal cause a feeling that your throat is closing a little?

I am not a dental specialist, but the general rules of thumb are that dental problems, such as root canal numbness, do not usually cause throat problems directly. However, there are some scenarios in which related symptoms can occur.
If you have a problem with a tooth, especially a back molar, infection or inflammation in that area can spread to nearby tissues, including the jaw and surrounding nerves. This, in turn, can cause discomfort or soreness that can spread to the throat or ear area. However, this is not common.
If you are experiencing unusual symptoms, such as feeling your throat closing slightly, it is recommended that you see your doctor or dentist for a more detailed examination and an accurate diagnosis. He or she will be able to assess your situation and suggest appropriate treatment or a referral for further medical tests.
