What kind of allergic reaction does he have to aspirin? Nose bleeds can be a side effect of taking aspirin. It can be a sign that the blood is too "thin" and that puts him at a higher risk for bleeding.
That is exactly what is going on, he is allergic to aspirin but bleeding of the nose is the only side effect he seems to get. That was to help him thin out his blood i will definitely ask the doctor before he gets out of hospital. Thank you for all your help on my question much appreciated
Bleeding is not an allergic reaction. Bleeding could mean that he has taken too much aspirin though. It is a toxicity reaction, not an allergic reaction. Allergic reactions are swelling of face, lips, tongue and/or difficulty breathing. Bleeding is a side effect, often meaning the aspirin is working too well and not allowing his blood to clot properly. Perhaps you should take your dad to speak to a different Dr. to get a second opinion.
hey thank you very much for that and i will certainly look into that. I am getting great comments from every one trying to help and very much appreciated..thank you once again god bless
you are welcome! I hope all turns out well for your father! It never hurts to get another Dr's opinion. Be sure to use one completely separate from the one he is seeing now. Dont use another doc in the same office because you wont get a true second opinion. Drs will seldom contradict their colleagues. See a Dr who has no affiliations with your current doc. I wouldnt even tell him it is for second opinion until the visit is done and the new doc has given his recommendations.
Here are alternate suggestions.
1.Aspirin is the safest blood thinner or which prevents blood clotting by platelet inhibition. Occasional nose bleed can occur. Since nose bleed is not life threatining , you need to endure it.
2.You may try to space out the dosage or reduce it and see.Doctor need to be kept informed.
3.Alternate Plavix is not useful in such cases.Howevr it is more useful in case Aspirin causes more gastric trouble.
4.One can keep icepack handy and bear the nose bleed. If it is too frquent and impossible to bear, then surgical opnion will be better .
5. Meditation , Praying , Diet control and Happy state of mind can help such situation. God Bless
Thank you very much for your answers. My dad is 86 years old and surgery will not be an option but i appreciate your suggestions or comments you have provided. God Bless You
What happens when your dad takes aspirin? It can cause nosebleeds if its effecting his clotting too much. This isn't an allergy.
Thank you for your answer on my question. I am sure i will manage to find out more, thanks for your input
If he's allergic to it, he should have had an allergic reaction by now. Bleeding is not an allergy.
Aspirin can cause nose bleeds as it thins out your blood. If your dad is allergic to aspirin ask you doctor if he can take Plavix. Though if your dad is having nose bleeds with Aspirin he may end up having them with Plavix as well.
Hope that helps.
I will do that thank you very much for taking time out to answer my question
