I am on day 5 of a 7 day course, taking 4 pills daily for cystitis. The infection seems to have Cleared however I need to finish the course. I've not been to the toilet since day 1, I'm very uncomfortable!! Did anyone else experience cconstipation, I thought I read it's meant to have the opposite effect?
Nitrofurantoin - did anyone get constipation?

I'm taking Nitrofurantoin also for the first time. I'm on day two of seven. So far so good. I'm hoping it will be effective without bad side effects because I am allergic not only to sulfa, but to cipro, and penicillin. I take my med for UTI's.

My answer is Yes!! And I'm not prone to constipation. Also this drug is not working for me, so I've contacted my doctor and asked him to see if there is something else I can take. I have a Sulfa allergy so sometimes antibiotics for this are limited in my case.
