Although I have been told that if the tablet is scored (a line through the middle of it) it can be cut in half, I would ask your pharmacist about this one. I have broken the 50mg tablets in half in the past on the advice of my pharmacist (they asked if the tablet was scored and told me if it is scored, then generally it can be broke in half). Hope this helps.
Even if you were prescribed 50 mgs., you can not break in half an extended release (ER,XL,XR) pill.
ER medications are time release technology, meaning they gradually release the medication through out the day unlike instant release (IR) which release all the med at once and breaking an ER pill in half would release too much of the medication at once causing unwanted adverse effects.
