... daily of aderall refilled before I ran out, I went in for the appointment and then the doctor told me that he could not prescribe it to me till I had my records mailed to him. I called to get them mailed asked how long it would take and they said a week. I am now out feeling really moody and depressed, but I don't know what to do I am 14 hours away from my old doctor. I even showed him my past prescription bottle. I am a great kid and I don't deserve this what should I do? He knew what I was taking when he approved me to be a patient he should have told me this weeks ago.
Medication - I just moved to a different state and made a doctors appointment to get my 20mg 2 times

I take this for my ADHD, without it I can't concentrate, stay still, and really depressed because of that.
Added 20 April 2012:Sigh nvm everyone this is just making me feel worse my parents made me try like everything out there when I was little and now I have finally found the one that works and have been on it for long time and now I can't get my new doctor to prescribe it I give up thank you for the help everyone at least you tried. God I'm an A, B student and run 8 miles a day so I'm very fit as well there is no reason for this bull. :-[ but thank you all.
Added 20 April 2012:I am so happy, my new doctor talked a long time with me and so did his nurse. I have not only been re evaluated but somehow they also got all my records faxed over within an hour. I can't say how happy I am to be back on my medication and calmed down. Thank you so much doctor and nurse for putting in the extra time to get all of the things done to get my prescription refilled. I think he was just scared to give it because so many people abuse it. I will tell you 100% I do not abuse it, I need this stuff without it I cannot function correctly. Anyway I just wanted to post thanks where it is deserved because it is only fair I put this on here saying he would not give me my needed medication and he worked everything out today. They got everything that was needed together and I gave much thanks to his assistant, if it was not for her it would have took a week to get my records I am so pleased that they fixed the mistake on their part and got it done so quick. This question is now 100% solved and thank you all for the help. I appreciate it alot. Thank you!!!!!! :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

Realize that this is an old post but just wanted to say good for you to stand up for yourself and to know what work's for you. And too the Drs and nurse who took the time to listen to and care about you. You sound like a very mature young man. Glad you got everything worked out. Good luck to you in the future.
So sorry that no one has answered your question sooner. Since you are new, you have to get on lists, and make friends for the question to be seen. Glad that your problem has been solved though. We didn't mean to leave you alone hanging in there like that!
Cant they fax the records?
They said it would take 4 days to get them together and they need me to sign the release papers for my information and I am in a different state so there adds another day they would have to fax that to me still haven't figured out how yet don't have a fax, so they would probably have to mail them and now I can't even do it till Monday because there office is closed sat and sun.
Whole situation sucks I'm so lost having horrible withdraws. :'-(
Idk I might just have to drive 14 hours back up there Idk if I can last that long. God wish I could just get a break in life, I don't get it if my doctor didn't think I should'nt be taking it then he would not have givin me the prescription wish this guy would realize that. I take it because I need it really bad without it I can't function. Sigh mental breakdown.
Why can't your doctor call in the prescription at a pharmacy nearby to where you live?
Good luck to you... so sorry you are having this problem.

I thought of that to, they said it was a controlled substance and can not be called over state lines due to different regulations. I wish it was that easy.
There is no reason why your new doctor cannot call your original doctor to get this prescription... call the Medical Board in the State you are now living in and explain the situation. They have an 800 number. Seems sad that you cannot get this medication.

I called the doctor again today and got his assistant, she told me she would ask him again for me and give me a final answer either tonight or tomorrow, but she didn't tonight so I hope it is a yes tomorrow. There is no reason it shouldn't be. So I will call that number tomorrow if he says no. But he alredy did before so good chance he will again. I even told him I was up to be tested all over again, I would be up for drug test, and also would be fine with random pill counts I just want to be my happy self again. I even signed his stupid paper for all of that. I agreed to everything he wanted what is wrong with this guy I have never done anything to him o don't understand how he can be so heartless. :-(((((( :'(:'(:'(:'(:'(
It's all good wether I have aderall or not in my life, I will succeed and accomplish all of my goals, it would have just been nice if I could have been happy an calm while I did it but I guess this is just life. Another issue I have is i have went between my moms house, dads house, grandmas house, and everywhere else you can imagine so my records are scattered everywhere thank god for my grandparents, they raised me and I love them with all my heart.
Doctors do not pick particular people to be a certain way with... they are busy so you need to be assertive and take care of your concerns. Your prescription is important so stick to that and how to get it. This is your goal.
Be positive and good luck to you!

Take this as a learning experience. If U have time-go to your doctor and ask for a copy of records-I keep mine around anyway. Before you leave-you ask the staff for a record release form-and sign it. It sounds more like the old doctor 's staff dropped the ball- also request extra meds to get you through the set up process with a new local doctor or 14 hours away on an airbus. Also- the new doctor's staff should've had you fill out a release of record form for them to FAX to your old doctor. The new doctor should've given you a small dose without a refill to tide you over until your records were in order.
Be assertive. The doctor might not be listening because of the lack of sleep, personal problems, being sick himself, etc. Things should go better for you- and you can talk to us anytime you want-OK?

Oh good, I'm glad they got it worked out! I didnt think it should have taken so long to get your records. I am a nurse and I have worked at Drs offices and we faxed records all the time but you do have to get a records release signed and sent to the old Dr. Like another poster said, remember this, and if it comes up in the future be sure that you get copies of your records before you move and always retain a copy for yourself, so copy them again, and give your new Dr the copies and keep one copy for yourself. That way you always have them for future use. Unfortunately Adderall is a Schedule 2 controlled substance and cant be called in anywhere-you have to have a written prescription in your hands to take to the pharmacy so always be sure you get an adequate supply from an old Dr to get you by until a new Dr can take over because it sometimes takes a while to get into a new Dr. I'm glad you got it all worked out.
I have gone off Adderall after being on it over a year and I know how bad it makes you feel. It is, unfortunately, a drug of high abuse potential and Drs have to be so careful these days because they can get into a lot of trouble if they dont have the right documentation on file. Just chalk it up to a good learning experience for you and now you will know what to do ahead of time if this happens again for you to move out of state!
Yes thank you I feel like myself again I'm sooooo happy, and yes they had to fax old doctor my signed release papers. I'm just glad this is over I didn't realize how bad I would feel after just dropping my meds at first I was like a week is no big deal and then withdraws kicked in and everything bad in life just kind of hit me, so I'm glad that is over. Thanks for all the posts they helped me get this done. :):):):):)
