I have been taking the genric version of luvox for about 4 weeks now and haven't notice any changes but have worsen since I started to taken it . I was on zoloft for about 4 months and it help some but not as much I would like, and not like when I was on prozac for about five years ... so the doctor winged me off of the zoloft while starting me on luvox... I think I have ocd cause I'm worring and my thought bothering me so much and It has just seemed to worsen since I stared taking it
How long does it take for luvox to work?

Hello purple688. Luvox is an SSRI and as is common to that drug family, generally about the time you've been taking it, a month. If you feel your OCD has become worse, I'd suggest you tell your doctor. Either an adjustment is needed, or possibly another drug or combination of drugs might in order. Best of wishes,pledge

tell your doc, iv been on a few weeks myself and just upped my dose... dosage is an important element in treatment of any mental illness, you may be on too high or low a dose... dont give up yet you may not see changes for up to 10 weeks

I told my doc about how it really wasn't working so she told me winged myself off of it.. and she gave some other of meds that seem like its working better already in just three days

what meds did your do switch you too? Im curious, because Iv been on Luvox now for 4 weeks and have noticed some change, but mood the same... meaning non exsistant and no real motivation.

wow, never heard of effexor for ocd treatment, mainly depression... but it helps with your ocd too??? I may mention to the doc about that. How bad was you ocd before? If ya dont mind me asking... ruminations, rituals what? Mine and mainly pure o thoughts... awful

Lot of thoughts and worring bout stuff... don't really like being around bunch of people cause I had thoughts I would hurt them... if I did get around people I thought I did hurt them so I would worring bout that..so I would have my sister follow me everywhere to let me know if somehow If I did ... but yeah its helped some ..I haven't been on it Long enough yet to be for sure how long its gonna help... what is your ocd symptoms?

Hey purple... Yea that classic ocd... mine is bad thoughts too of self harm, even though I dont want too. It worries me and I also over think everything. I hate the harm pure O it the worst, id much rather have the checking or cleaning... anyhoo I hope you have success with effexor, please keep me posted in the coming days of your starting dosage etc if ya dont mind and if its helping cause I too have been on Luvox for 4 weeks, and its not worse but I dont know that its really helping greatly and my depression is definatly still there slightly which sux. Im still only on 100mg. and they say yu can go up to 300 w/luvox so I want to give it a chance, but am also trying to prepare other options if I need too, seeing doc in 7 days. I hope it helps you... any info on dosage starting etc... would be great and if you think its helping with your ocd

I'm 23 how old are you?I have had ocd since I was 13 and not only have I had those symptoms but also used to wash my hands like crazy..they would get so dry that they would start to bleed... I have had really bad when I was 17 it was so bad that I wouldn't get around anyone except my dad ..they I started taking prozac which helped a lot but after 5years of taking it ... it just stopped working... but yes I will keep you posted cause I deff understand what it feel like not having the right medicine ..

I am feeling better, not worring about some things.. but the ocd hasn't stop a whole lot ... when I go back to the dr in a few weeks might ask her to add something to it..hows the luvox doing for you?

I am on luvox, doctor started me on a low dose of 50 mg at night then I told him I didn't feel like it was working so he told me to take 100 mg at night and I feel like crap. I get anxious and worried and feel like I'm getting impatient. It will be almost four weeks which is a month. Its my first time taking this medication and it mostly for my ocd and depression

Hi I just wanted to comment that I was treated with Zoloft for 12 years and Luvox for 6 successfully for OCD thoughts not rituals but had to be on 400 mg of both for it to help. Tough situations caused both to stop working and now I've tried Effexor which caused akethesia and currently mirtazapine which has helped with the thoughts but causes me to be restless. Podcast is now going to try combo of Luvox and Zoloft. Any other feedback on Luvox Zoloft combo and doses would be great. Currently taking xanax as bandaid until try to find right mix. Keep the faith. We will all get better.
