I took Antabuse for 9 months — 250mg daily for the first 7 months and 125mg daily for the last two. The last dose I took was on May 27th, so today is my 17th day without it. There is a great deal of contradictory information online about when it is safe to drink after stopping Antabuse. In your opinion, have I been off the drug long enough to avoid the alcohol-Antabuse interaction? If you could limit your advice to the specific question, I would appreciate it. Thank you.

You are past 3 days of a potential interaction between Antabuse and alcohol. The literature states that you must wait 14 days after your last dose in order to consume alcohol.
"Do not drink alcohol while taking disulfiram and for up to 14 days after you stop taking this medicine."

You should not drink alcoholic beverages or use medicines that contain ethanol during treatment with disulfiram. This can cause flushing, nausea and vomiting, blurred vision, shortness of breath, rapid heart beat, and low blood pressure. It is important that you tell your health care provider about all other medications that you are using including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using your medications without first talking to your doctor.
