I have been on Saxenda for 5 weeks. I've lost some weight but not like what I've heard others saying they have. It does help me stick to a healthier diet usually less than 1000 calories a day and I have to make myself eat most the time. I am still having the sulphur burps and horrible gas. I get cramps and indigestion but I want to stick this out and hope it gets better and the weight loss will continue maybe even pick up some.
I’ve been on saxenda for 9 weeks. Had absolutely no issues from the start and have lost 54lbs. About 2 weeks ago I had a whole week of on off eggy burps and diarrhoea. I’ve found an antacid helps if I wake in the night feeling gassy but I’ve started to take a live bacteria supplement every morning before eating. I’m not sure if the issue is settling or the supplement is helping but the last 2 nights I’ve not been woken with and tummy issues.
I have Cyclic Vomiting Sickness and with my episodes I get sulfur burps and if I get sulfur burps I know I am going to start throwing up (if I didn't have chronic constipation, I'd probably have diarrhea also). With the episodes comes the worst abdominal pains and these can last for days after vomiting stops. Only way I get relief is by going to ER. So I hadn't had any episodes for over a year and a half until I started Saxenda and went up to 1.2mg dose. I went back down to .6mg and started making myself eat small amounts of food just to have something in my stomach. If I eat too much food or go a couple days fasting, I will most definitely get sick. I just recently after a month went up 4 clicks past .6mg and i think I'll just go up slowly to maintain this. CVS, Gastroparesis and other GI issues are problems that go along with these kinds of injections. There was an article on CNN a month ago that mentioned all these issues. Check it out of you can find it. And GOOD LUCK this sickness is literally the worst!!!
Add me to the list of people with this side effect. I wake up in the middle of the night burping. I only just started this med two days ago, so no weight loss results yet. I did have an episode of dizziness and wonder if anyone else has had this.
Yes I have they are awful. Ive lowered my dose, it says you can, I'm not sure what causes it I have a theory its either tye food your eating or the amount, that the gut cant digest it so its creating sulphur which needs to get out one way or another.
I've not lost anything like i read on tte Internet and I'm strict with food and obviously not much appetite. Ive lost 1 stone in 8 weeks might be a bit longer but they don't work like I expected them to this is my 3rd pen then thats it.
First week. Today is day 7. Lost 3.4 lbs. Day 5 the sulfur bombs came. Then constant diarrhea. It’s 2:20 AM and the last sentence is why I’m still up and have to be to work at 7. I don’t think I’m upping the dose today. I need this to normalize a bit first. I realized due to the diarrhea have a hemorrhoid. Never in 43 years have I. Stay hydrated y’all.
I have been on this medication for approximately 3 weeks. I can’t believe I waited this long to research any side effects. I feel really stupid, as I’ve been feeling absolutely horrid. I have the burps, but they are not long or noisy.
However, the taste in my mouth is horrendous, and I’ve had EXTREME dry mouth! I also have indigestion/heartburn that is bad enough to stop me in my tracks and go sit down. I actually was thinking today before coming across this group, that I WISH I could burp-thinking that would solve the indigestion problems.
I’ve begun taking mints and hard candies with me everywhere to help with horrible taste in my mouth.
I’m having other more serious side effects, such as breathing issues, severe headaches, VERY SEVERE FATIGUE with problems sleeping. I also get sharp pain in my upper abdomen so badly that I’m doubled over.
I do not have much of an appetite at all, and when I do eat it’s hard to swallow and digest. I do not own a scale, so when I go to my dr. apt next week I’m going to see how much weight I’ve lost, I can say for sure that I’ve lost belly fat because I can see that my muffin-top is slightly less. If I’ve only lost 5 or less lbs., I think I will discontinue this med.because I can lose that just eating healthier. In other words, I’m thinking this med. might not be worth all the side effects I’m experiencing. Granted, my side effects are on the more severe end (especially the breathing issue of shortness of breath and the severe fatigue) but I’m willing to stick it out another week or so, if things don’t change I’m done with it. Good luck all!
Yes this is my 5th week now at maximum dose, I have had the eggy burps since the beginning! And they are rotten! I did have nausea in the beginning but it quickly went away. Just these eggy burps and slight heartburn and wind at night with sharp stomach pains..
I am on week on, tomorrow I am suppose to go to the next dose from 0.6 and I have been having rotten egg burps and diarrhea all but 1 day, I'm down 6.5 pounds in only the first week. I work in a doctors office, I can't walk around bleaching what smells like fart from my mouth and running off due to diarrhea. I don't know what to do!!
Did you up the dose? I’m having the same issue and on day 7. Thinking about waiting a few days to a week to up it.
Hi, yes me too with the egg burps from both ends! I’m at 1000 calories a day on 1.2 which has been the same for many weeks, I’ll stay on 1.2 now, weight loss is just as I wanted. I’m single at the moment so it’s only my son that has to put up with it and obviously we don’t share a room or bathroom so not such an issue as someone sharing a bed etc. That said, I would still use it as it’s for my health so I think it’s worth it. I don’t think I’d cope well on 3 as the stomach gurgling and side effects are manageable at 1.2. Good luck all x
Yes I have this too.
It is very unpleasant but it contributes to stopping me eating constantly.
Yes I have the same issue after increasing dose to 1.6. And it doesn’t matter what I eat I keep burping the taste of vomit. Not great but we can all do it . No pain no gain
I also experience this. I’ve been on Saxenda for a few months now and I get the sulfur burps, cramps, upset queasy stomach, nausea…at least once a month. It’s absolutely terrible :(
I have unfortunately experienced these sulfur burps years ago before having my gall bladder removed and I remembered the only thing that helped when I first noticed it is to take the original alka seltzer (2 fizzy tabs in a tiny amount of cold water). It always seemed to settle my stomach and so I do the same now and usually only 1-2 doses and I feel much better and it goes away quicker. This last time I ended up having to take 3-4 doses (over 2 days) but if I don’t take anything, it can sometimes last a week or more and it’s embarrassing and so painful
YES it’s been happening for months and gas and explosive poo, reflux that never stops!
Going off the needles not losing weight and embarrassed about the poo burps that just sneak out and clear a room.
Wish I’d googled this 2 months ago!!
I know this thread is old but I'm so glad I found it.. I was fine until week 6 when I upped my dose to the full 3 mgs. The burps and gas are intolerable at this point, every second day pretty much. Other digestion related issues as well. I'm gonna talk to my doctor and find out about going back down to 2.4 mgs. I hope this is temporary
