Ive been very ill with copd; respiratory failure; paralyzed right diaphragm upward;severe sleep apnea; had mersa in my lungs also while I was inpatient 1 1/2 yrs. ago. Ive been doing better. New dr. so I think she's overly concerned about one blood test. Should I be worried & really check this out.?
Leukocytosis - my WBC test was 14.1.Is that number terribly high? Should I be overly concened ?

Hi, if i'm correct, the maximum wbc for an adult should be 10.4, so in that case your result is pretty high. What has your doctor said to do about this?
It is 10.4. But how high is high? If I was happy with my doctor's diagnosis if any, then I wouldn't be on drugs.com. I wanted 2nd,3rd opinions. I am not showing any symptoms of being sick. Plus, I'd like to know if there's anything else other than a visible illness/infection that could elevate my WBC??? Thanks!!!
There are several reasons for your wbc to be elevated, without knowing your lifestyle it's difficult to say... immune system disorder, allergic reaction to something, reaction to certain medications, bacterial infection (that may not be showing symptoms), stress, smoking, etc, etc. Your wbc result isn't considered extremely high, but it does need to be treated
I know little to nothing about Leukocytosis. However, I did a little research and found it is most likely associated with an infection of some sort, viral or bacterial. What did your doctor tell you? How is she treating it?
Thanks but Im quite aware that is associated with a type of infection. But I am not sick. So???
