I have heard and read that when someone is on Methadone, it blocks other opiates. Because My uncle has been switched from Opana to Methadone, do to lack of money, and when he was on Opana he was also taking Roxicodone 15mg for breakthrough pain. So If methadone blocks opiate receptors, wouldn't it be a waste for him to take the Roxy 15 mg pills? I Would appreciate anyone who has any knowledge on this at all, or have heard any sort of similar story's. on this at all, Because I can't really figure it out.
Thanks NewYorkGuy44.

Yes, yes, yes,! It will help alot. I am on Methadon right now (& have been for 10 years) & recently had a urinary problem with a prolapsed urethea. The Urologist gave me Percocet 7.5 mg & had me go to bed for 1 week. That was hard becasue the Percocet made mine pain go away all over! It was wonderful! Alas it was only for 10 days until my problem was resolved, then back to just Methadone. So to answer your question, yes it will work, but they usually don't prescribe both for long term use. At least not around here. Hope this answers your question.
Yeah Thanks For answering, Both of you guys, I appreciated it.
So thank you Eliza and Mary.
But as far back as I remember when I use to sit with my pal at the methadone clinic, when they talked, they would say, if youv already dranken the Monkey Juice , or Gorilla Gatorade, lol, These names, Talking about the liquid Methadone, it would be a complete waste to do Heroin or take any strong Pain Medicines, So they said cuz the Opiate receptors being blocked
And at that time I wasn't on Methadone, but when I did get prescribed it for pain, I also was taking Roxy 30's, but I can't ever recall taking the Roxy's or the Oxy's and remembering if I felt them or if I didn't. I use to take the Oxy's and the Roxy's in the morning before I took the Methadone,
I was just curious, because I KNow they say Methadone is anOpiate Blocker and shuts off the Opiates to your Brain so you can't Feel the Meds, or in there case getting high.
But Thanx the same Lady's..
Just thought I'd add since you answered, that if you are taking Methadone for pain, & don't have an additive personality, I think that is the reason the other opiates work. I don't "feel" them as you said, it just really took away alot of my pain. I didn't get a high feeling from Methadone or Percocet. Infact the methadone to me all it did was make me sleepy all the time, & feeling out of it. I hated it so I changed pain clinics & am now on hydrocodone 10/325 mg every 6 hours. What a difference. I feel like a whole new person. I still have some pain, but at least I am not so out of it all the time. Just thought I'd add this to my answer. Good luck to you...
Im confused im prescribed oxycodone 15 mg and methadone but when i take methadone i feel like the roxys dont work with the same effect
Yes, Oxycodone will still work. I don't know the specific mechanism of action, but, from my own experience I know that Oxycodone still does Work.
