First... I don’t think the insomnia is related to the Ativan. Stay calm or you won't sleep.
Are you an anxiety-prone person or is the anxiety related to the effects of the disease?
It’s a problem that results from non-diagnosed or “invisible diseases” knowing something is wrong and wasting valuable time searching for the answer.
If this is the case, this is how you appear visiting the doctor. The doctor sees a patient with high anxiety levels and they continue to treat and don’t test. It’s a never-ending cycle.
Did you get a positive Lyme test? There are two, one is for screening and if that’s positive, you want the more definitive test.
Mold is scary. Did you have a specific test for it? I know because I think I have it and can’t get an answer from::
Primary x 1
Dermatologists x 2
Ophthalmologist x 2
Tomorrow I have a phone appointment with a major diagnostic university.
If I learn anything I will let you know.
I took magnified iPhone pictures of what I was trying to describe. Do you know, not one doctor would look at my iPad photos!
I thought a televised appointment would make them LISTEN to me. Lol...
Your insomnia is probably related to the disease. It’s why I talked about the importance of getting a correct diagnosis.
The fact that you were not fully educated by the doctor makes me wonder if
- the diagnosis isn’t a sure thing
- The doctor isn’t either good at educating or reassuring or
- He doesn’t know and trying a hit or miss treatment. Hopefully, it works.
See what I mean? Do all the relaxation techniques you read about on the internet for good sleep hygiene.
Insomnia can become chronic so your body forgets how to sleep and the cycle repeats.
If it’s continuing despite everything, a sleep study test will give you a diagnosis regarding insomnia.
So first do your RESEARCH and EDUCATE yourself.
You need to be your advocate. Don’t wait 3 months for your next appointment, call after a few weeks with no change.
Get a trusted family member who will go to doctor visits with you. Your memory can be affected not only by insomnia but from the disease process.
I’m not sure a neurologist is a way to go. I’m not sure if it’s an infectious disease doctor or environmental? I’ll know more tomorrow after I hopefully, show the doctor my symptoms and get a recommendation.
I will get back to you.
Best wishes my friend.
Congrats on your sobriety.
