Trying to find alternative to narcotics such as codeine combinations. Have read pros and cons about this medication, but nothing specific to headaches, only acute pain. Remember a doctor prescribing it some years ago. Anyone have experience with it in this category?
Is tramadol used for migraine headaches?

Opiates usually cause rebound headaches after awhile and most doctors don't prescribe them anymore for headaches. Tramadol is addictive although for some reason the manufacturer got it listed as a non opiate pain killer. I would try Lyrica... Good luck...
It isnt considered an opiate because it is synthetic. It will not show up as an opioid is a UA. It does the same as Hydrocodone, and oxycodone, but without the nasty, addictive side effects (to a certain degree.) The only known side-effect which would be considered bad is taking them with some anti-depressants or triptans, as together they can cause serotonin syndrome. Taking more than 400mg a day can cause seizures or respiratory depression. It works wonders for my migraines and puts me in a good mood too! might not work for everyone though...
I was given tramadol for my migraines, is this a good drug for that, so far I have been unable to find something that really helps, so I don't take anything and I just try to let it run it's course, which unfortunately can be 2 to 3 days.
Are there another methods.
