Your family member was just misinformed. Phentermine is a schedule 4 controlled substance, amphetamine is a schedule 2. It's molecule is not structurally similar to an amphetamine type drug. Some people reported feeling stimulated while on it but not on a level of an amphetamine. I wouldn't be to concerned about taking it if you got it from a health care professional and it's taken as directed. If you experience any unpleasant side effects while on phentermine you should contact the prescriber immediately.
Hello nicolebee. Phentermine is very much like an amphetamine and can cause a person to become addicted or dependent on. If taken as prescribed, for its done so for short periods of time, a few weeks, then its recommened not to take it for some time. That avoids the chances of becoming dependent on the drug as well as having any of the possible side effects that are common to taking this drug. There are risks to taking this drug, so its suggested you follow your doctors directions. Best wishes and good health to you, pledge
