Just checked my NPH. 300ml vial equals 100 units per ml. It is written on the vial.
Remember to always do the 2ml air shot to remove bubbles and place insulin into the needle. Do not skip this step as you could endanger your kitty.
So a vial for your cat will produce: 100 divided by 4.5. = 22 shots per vial.
And be sure you change the needle each time as they become dull after a single shot and can be a source of infection. You can get a red biohazard box at some of the big drugs stores or maybe your clinic. Otherwise a heavy plastic bottle that laundry detergent or bleach bottle. Do not throw in trash, ever.
The math is all wrong. Quite confusing really. Where did 300ml come from? The 3ml vial is for the insulin Pens. I will fill one up with water and do the practical myself. Also, all that extra info about disposal is quite unnecessary. Was there some difficulty reading the question?
