Insomnia - I have been taking 20 mg ambien a night for about 7 years now.long story short---i dont?

I must agree with Mary. (She is usually spot on!!)
Also, add some Melatonin, tis all natural and available at any pharmacy/supermarket, or Melatonin and Valerian Root mixture.
There is a tea, called Sleepy Time Tea, if you can gag it down (it tastes like road kill... not that I've eaten much roadkill, but you get the idea!!) with enough honey to mask the flavour, you may find it effective.
This is a bit controversial (sp), yet have you ever tried Xanax or Ativan for sleep? Any benzodiazapine can be very efficacious when it comes to insomnia!! Yet, benzos are addictive. But I suppose ambien can be addictive as well (NO Judgement, promise!!), hope that didn't sound judgemental. Benzos when used for a short time period are great for sleep.

The combo you speak of & maybe add a couple of benadrl should help you out. It's worth a try if that's all you have right now. Sometimes, if you have a regular prescription I have had a pharmatist give me a day or two's worth to get me by the interim between proscritions if the doctor is unavailable to get it written.Good luck to you...
