Hi everyone. I again wanna thank everyone for the responses, and for checking on me. I am gonna throw an update in I might need some more advice on. First off when they pulled my top teeth they stitched my gums up to slow the bleeding cause.I am anemic. I have a bunch of stitches where my teeth were. Now on the gum on left side of my mouth right above where my left molars used to be is a huge lump. The place I got this done at is 3hrs.away and only open mon-fri. I tried to call and there is no emergency # except 911. Any ideas what this is and am I safe til I can talk to them Monday? I am taking my antibiotics as prescribed.

I had all my bottom teeth pulled out 2 days ago and an immediate permanent denture put in. I also had them make a top denture because I broke mine a few years ago and haven't had insurance or money to have it replaced. My dentist did a good job, I can't complain, but the dentures were very painful. The top one was too small and did not fit me at all, and the bottom denture, the edges were digging into the inside of my mouth, under the tongue. I told him they hurt very badly and didn't fit but he insisted I wear them anyway. He prescribed Tylenol 3 with codeine and it helps the pain, plus an antibiotic. I couldn't stand the pain from the dentures digging into my skin, so I removed them and have tried to put them back into my mouth because the swelling is gone, but still, they don't fit. I am going back to the dentist in a few days for a follow up and I am asking him to make new molds, these dentures don't fit at all.
My top denture doesn't touch the roof of my mouth -- it's too low -- and the edges dig into my gums at the back. My bottom dentures are too big. My bottom teeth are longer than the top, it looks really freakish. And the piece covering the gums is too long, it's digging into the inside of my mouth. I blame it on the lab, it seems they did not let the resin harden long enough and it lost it's shape. I hope your pain subsides and you have a better experience than I did. I woudn't recommend immediate dentures to anyone who is thinking of having the procedure done.
Hello, sorry to here you had so much pain with this. I just went Monday July 15th, 2013 had all my teeth pulled 28 actually.. No I did not have dentures put in yet. Will go back for that part after soreness in one spot goes away. I had one area on lower left of my face that swelled the size of a golf ball and bruised pretty bad. Dentist gave me Amoxicillin(antibiotics), Percocet ( for pain), Decadron ( for swelling) & Ibuprofen 800.. It's been 5 days now I have taken the amoxicillin. Took 1 & half Percocet. & 1 ibuprofen. Took Percocet right before numbness wore off and that has been it. Took ibuprofen to help with headache I had because of No smoking, No Coke &No food. Lol.
i also just had all my top teeth(10) pulled sunday july 14th. its almost a week now tomorrow but ive been in so much pain and for the past 4 days both of my ears have hurt. its been hard to eat plus sleep with waking up about 2 times night. ive only taking tylenol and ibuprofen and its helped a little but not much. im also waiting for all the swelling and everything to go down before i go get my dentures cause i hate pain.
well to the above comment, you didn't have hard, dentures sitting on them, mine felt great when they weren't in, I wish luck to everyone, eat lots of ice cream, and find a trustworthy good dentist that cares about your concerns
I just had all my top teeth pulled Monday and I am in no pain at all, gums are a lil sore but thats it,I wasn't sent home with no meds. I'm surprised a lot of people are asking me how do you do it I guess it all depends on the person. I also have stitches but that doesn't bother me either, I go about my daily house cleaning early in the morning while my kids are in school... Then I sleep till they get home and then i'm up again cooking for them after they eat and take a bath,i'm back in bed lots of rest has helped me. For the swelling I eat ice cream sometimes and ice packs 20 minutes on and off. I am letting my swelling go down some before i go get my dentures I have been pain free so far so why start now... Good luck to you hope you get better soon.
I believe the people here had their dentures put on the same day as their teeth were pulled. Now that's gotta hurt! I've had teeth pulled with minimal pain, but putting a hard denture on top of all that torn tissue? Yikes! There's no comparison. -ElizaJane
Hi, I was wondering if you could tell me what you did to manage the pain and how long it took before the pain went away? I just had all my top teeth pulled last week and i have no pain medication until sometime next week. The pain is almost unbareble and I have two small children to run after. Not very good with the pain.
Hello Anna,
I know exactly what you are going through, In 2004 when I was 24 I got all of my teeth pulled because I had a lack of calcium, so my teeth started breaking off, anyway I have full mouth dentures and when the dentist pulled my teeth he had to give me motrin 800 becasue I am very sensitive and allergic to most pain meds, I must say I really did not have a lot of pain, my teeth were pulled in intervals, I would go and have top back teeth pulled on one side, then go back 2 weeks later and have next side down, and so on... the day I got my dentures I had 6 top front and 6 bottom from pulled.
It is very important that you go to your dentist for follow ups such as realignments especially since you just got your teeth pulled, your gums will shrink after fully healed, therefore casuing dentures to not fit correctly, I did not go back to my dentist after I got mine due to bad experience and for years my teeth became looser and I had a lot of sores in my mouth becasue my teeth were incorrectly made, thankfully a couple months ago I got a whole new pair that was fitted for my mouth. It is okay to soak dentures in polident over night, although I don't soak mine over nite cause don't want to go with out teeth. Make sure you brush your gums daily with a soft bristle toothbrush and toothpaste to avoid getting gum disease... Good luck, sorry this was so long
I'm sorry Lara ns everyone who posted such good advice, that I took so long to respond. I have been hurting so bad since I got this done, I am just now checking responses. I am ok, still on pain, waiting on stitches to desolve and swelling to go down. Thank u all for your input. I think it is trying to heal. I am taking amoxicillin too. Lara I will email u sometime today. Again thank u everyone. Anna... Dixie
i am sorry you are hurting! sounds to me like you need stronger meds!please take care , you don't want to set up an infection!!take care & God bless
Dixie,
PLEASE post something so we know how you are doing!! I am worried about you, I may call you at the butt-crack of dawn this morning if you do not post!!
Lara
Toradol is more effective than morphine for some people but apparently it is not doing all so well for you! If you are still hurting, call your dentist and let them know. they can prescribe you something stronger. Like sweetlemon said-Be sure you always let a doc and dentists know all the medications you take including Vitamins and any supplements like herbs. I dont know much about dentures either but I have seen a lot of people soak them in polydent over night. My grandmother used to and it never seemed to hurt hers but I'm not sure if that is a proper way to care for them. You can always ask the dentist about that when you call about the pain meds. Hope you feel better soon!
i had my uppers pulled 2 years ago ,it takes time for your gums to shrink and swelling to go down,i had to call my doc back for a week or so for pain meds. in a while you can ask the dentist to put in a soft liner it lines the plate so thay fit and it shapes to your gums ,after time thay do a hard liner to fit your mouth for good you can soak all night and as far as glue try something called clutch,it is a glue forms to your mouth it is a powder but it has no taste, whrite me back if you need more info, god bless!
P.S always keep them in water so they are moist, make sure you do not get food in the sockets ,that will give ya a dry socket-very painful, wallmart may have to order the clutch
Simplysmart - if you see this, could you tell me more about "clutch"? I can't find anything about it. I am allergic to a lot of things and need to see if this is free of my allergen. Thanks! ElizaJane
I had my uppers removed June 7 /2018
Today is Sunday June 10
I was not told when to start taking them out and soaking them
My husband is going thru the same thing as you. He just had all his upper teeth pulled & a plate made. His pain has been terrible. They gave him Hydrocodone 7.5 mg to take. Only enough for 2 days tho. The toradol is ok for short term use. Do not use it any longer than necessary. My rheumatologist used to have me on it all the time until the FDA decided it could cause liver damage used that way. Worked better than almost anything I've taken since. Our dentist told my hubby to just brush his denture with toothpaste, & he didn't have to wear them at night. He could also use a mouth wash a couple of times a day if he wanted to. He's had a terrible time eating & probably will until his gums are completely healed. Has had his stitches out, but it takes time. He also hated the Poligrip & was going to use Seabond, but his dentist said to wait a few weeks (I don't know why)to use the Seabond. It will take a while for you to get over the pain, & be able to eat right again. Just stay to the soft foods for a while. Hope this helps you...
Hi sorry you are not feeling good. What you feel is normal, The pain will get better each day. My friend and my mother went through the same thing. Ask the dentist if you can double up on your medication. Do not do this on your own. He may give you something else for the pain. Take care. Hope you feel better soon. I am here if you need to talk.
Hi, Hope your mouth is feeling better. Just wanted to say hi.
Hi Darling Dixie,
I don't know jack about dentures, but if you are in pain call your dentist asap!!
When you call ask about the soaking thing. I hope the pain goes away soon.
If your dentist yanked ALL your upper teeth, I am sure you are in quite a bit of pain, so don't feel bad if you need something strong for this! When I had my wisdom teeth yanked, it hurt for days, so I can't even imagine what you are experiencing having all those teeth pulled out! I will look up this med, and report back to you gurl.
Love,
Lara
Toradol is an NSAID. Don't take any other NSAID's with it, including Ibuprofen, aleve, aspirin. Do not take for longer than five days. It may affect fertility, do not take while trying to concieve.
Do use any otc cold medicines while on this med. Are you taking any antidepressants, certain anti-d's do not mix with Toradol. No Xanax with it either.
Allergic reactions are; rash, swelling, chest pain, swelling, jaundice, shortness of breath (do not smoke cigs while taking it) slurred speech, sensitivity to light, and possible sores in the mouth.
I hope you told your dentist all the meds you are taking Anna, because that is ever so important!!!
Let me know how you are feeling. Email me if you can gurl.

Good Morning my friend,
I saw where Sweetlemon had talked to you about the drug so I am going to tell you I did some extensive research, as you probably already know this is a drug that ehxhibits it's pain control through anti-inflammatory activity, it has no known effect on opiate receptor sites, it aso says that you should be on this medication for probably no longer than 5-8 days (8 days being the most) and the directions are 1-10mg. tablet every 4 to 6 hours, but this drug is also given by I.M. I.V.
routes, I would give the dentist a call and ask him if you can increase the drug, if yu are still having pain then I would think that maybe there is something different that is better and will also work better for you, you know I don't recall seeing this drug given for the type of pain that you are having, I had a kidney infection hadn't been over it but a short time and my dentist was also an oral surgeon when I had my wisdom teeth cut out they hospitalized me for 48 hours, they gave me potent medication for it so don't you suffer if this isn't doing the job then you give him a call, I don't mean to try to tell you what to do but having wisdom teeth removed is very painful, you can always contact me and you know if I can help in any way I am more than happy to do so! You take good care! Caringsonbj (Billy)

Hi
My name is Nicole I am having 12 top teeth extracted/surgically removed, and waiting out the healing time for dentures.
Here is my issue. I am a prescription drug addict about of clean and sober since 2004, the medication that was mentioned in these post are listed as "narcotics", despite the fact that the receptors in the brain are supposed to "trick" them into being used as anti-depressants and still help with the pain. These are off limits to me not matter what is said about them.
When I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed I was eating mashed potatoes and other soft foods with in 4 hours and there was some pain, but I never took a prescript from the Dr I told him I would call IF I needed one. This go around is a whole different ballpark, 12 teeth all in one setting some extractions and some surgical removals. I used to have an extremely high tolerance for pain, and now after being clean and sober off narcotics, I would say a fairly high because of self preservation mainly. I had 4 strokes at 29, I h ave Neurological Lyme Disease, Arthritis and Fibro, to which I take nothing for, I meditate, and focus on other things to help. Has anyone else had all their teeth top or bottom teeth removed at the same time and how was your experience, and pain level. I have heard mention of "stitches" would that be for the surgical extractions I assume? My surgery is November 8th of this yr 11. Any help or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks
Nicole from TN
