I have read & heard that the generic Mylan brand of diazepam doesn't work as it should. My insurance will not cover the brand name & it's pretty expensive. What other generic brands are out there that DO work? I use CVS as my pharmacy
What generic brands of diazepam work - not Mylan?

All you need to know about why Mylan diazepam doesn't work is 2 things. The year that they were licensed to make it & what political party was running the FDA in that year.
Now there's a different take panic999. Plausible too.
NutraSweet was band in the U.S. (as most of Europe was legal) until Donald Rumsfeld was appointed by George W Bush to be Secretary of Defense. He just happened to own a very large stake in NutraSweet stock
My wife has been taking brand valium for years and they stopped making it. She has been taking the TEVA generic form and it does not work the same. What brand is the best to use? I heard that the brand Watson is supposed to be good but I can't find it anywhere. If anyone has the same problem please let me know. Thanks
I've always liked TEVA. But some generics do not work well for everybody. I agree that DAN is a good brand and also Qualcomm is too. I would not take any of the other diazepam generics out on the market right now... especially Mylan.
In my experience Teva is just so so. The brand that works the best is DAN. They have the number of the mg on one side and DAN 5619 on the other. I used to get Teva all the time but one time my pharmacy was out and gave me DAN's and holy crap I was soooooooo relaxed!
Teva and only Teva, just ask your Pharmacist to order your strength from Teva.
Mylan gives me headaches with none of the benefits of trademark Valium. I've tried all the generics and they seem to be equally toxic. I believe they all come from the same crooked source. It's a shame that such an important drug can be scammed with seemingly no oversight. Where is the FDA on this? The pharmacies are selling us poison and will not return our money when we return their phoney drugs. SHAME ON THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY.
I am a retired RN. I have anxiety as well as extremely severe panic attacks with PTSD. I have been prescribed diazepam 10mg but Walgreens only carries Mylan and I refilled my prescription on the 7th and yesterday saw an insect (I have a crippling phobia of them) and took my diazepam. NO relief. Took another. NO relief. Took 6 more. No relief. Took 6 more. No relief. I have been awake over 48 hours. I am going through Benz withdrawal. I have been getting drug screens since I have suspected that the Mylan brand is fraudulent and out of 6 tox screens 3 showed no benzodiazepines. I realize that Mylan can get away with their fraud because of the placebo effect that some people succumb to. They won't try it on a cardiac or diabetic drug. I ran into this problem with another drug company after getting oxycodone 5mg after surgery. I was in severe pain and finally realized that the pills were fake. I took 35 pills and saved 5 for analysis.
I had a drug screen done the next day. NO drug detected. My son is an attorney. We had the pills analyzed, sued and we won. What generic brands are more reliable regarding diazepam?
I have had the same experience on mylan drugs! My PCP didn’t believe me nor did the ER as I was seen as a drug seeker for telling them it was a placebo! The arrogant doctor at the hospital told me he wouldn’t give me more medication and good luck very arrogantly... I left hysterically crying in pain & hyperventilating. I went to my PCP the next day & was hyperventilating in her office. After, I tried to explain what was going on- she brushed it off & I had to walk out. I signed myself into a hospital and my drug screen was clean! It took me a year to find another doctor I have to pay out of pocket for... as Teva discontinued their Clonazepam I have tried their partner Actavis with a severe outcome... I was switched to diazepam immediately- I received Teva generic. The generic I used to take qualitest pharmaceuticals before Teva. They are junk now. I don’t have side effects with Teva & used to only take Teva generics for years...
I just don’t feel relaxed & still anxious. I doesn’t help my phobias at all. It’s better than, other alternatives I have tried. Pharma companies are just merging & buying each other out- they’re all going to crap...
I don’t know where to go from here- I cannot afford brand & my insurance changed even, if I was approved for brand- I would have a huge “penalty copayment”. That’s why I cannot get my topamax either...
Thanks for your comment!
Mylan does not work for my mom who takes it once in a very great while and Xanax is also prescirbed by Mylan and I cannot tolerate anything made by Mylan, just a minute let me get up and look at the medication bottle and see if I can find the manufacture--I am so very very sorry I thought the drug manufacture was listed but it isn't, this won't help but its worth a try have you ever taken another generic other than Mylan? talk to the doctor, Roche was the first that came out with Valium, I don't know whether your insurance would pay for that brand or not, my guess is probably not but tell the doctor exactly what you have explained about the effects of the Mylan brand, maybe he can discuss tis with the pharmacist and together they can find a brand that you can tolerate, I wish you the very best, please take good care
Hi MDgirl, Here's a link to view the different strengths and manufacturers of Valium. I agree that the Valium does work best. There's also Barr pharmaceuticals but haven't heard much about them. There's at least 3 pages of different ones. Hope this helps!

Christine,
You are the greatest!!

Great help Chris.
Thanks Laurie and Maso!! Have a great weekend...
Thank you so much! I have taken the brand name before & there is a big difference in the effects. This generic doesn't seem to really work near as well as the real thing. I am going to check pharmacies & see if I can find one that carries a generic brand other than Mylan. I appreciate your help and will keep you informed. Thanks again!! Stacy
I personally thing Diazepam from Mylan is not as effective for me. Plus, if you need half a dose and split the tablet, many times it turns into crumbles and that is so unacceptable in case you really need to taper it. Unfortunately there are no pharmacies around me that carry diazepam from other manufacturers :(
I would like to be able to see bioequivalence (BE) studies, or what are their SOPs regarding bioequivalence studies and if they report lots that have been retested and found to be not within the BE range...
I got ANOTHER bad batch of Mylan diazepam 10mg on the 7th for 60 tablets. I have 24 left. I should have 50. I called my Psychiatrist and asked him to cancellmy refills of the Mylan and order that it not be filled with Mylan. Walgreens is going to order Teva for me, a brand I have had in the past. If you're having the fraudulent drug problem that these unregulated generic companies can get away with, have your doctor write your script to not allow Mylan to be filled. (The Pharmacist suggested this to me when I called and told them that I was going thru benzodiazepines withdrawal.) It's worth a shot. I'm hoping that the Teva brand works.
To all of you who get the crappy Mylan Valium, YOUR DRUG STORE CAN AND HAS TO ORDER A DIFFERENT BRAND IF YOUR DOCTOR SPECIFIES IT ON YOUR SCRIPT. Don't let them get away with selling PLACEBOS. And contact Mylan directly by email. I did and got a response the next day. They, Mylan, need strict quality controls in place and they need to know that we are on to their fraud.
Pharmacists say they are all the same, but they are not. 2 10 mg diazepam by different manufacturers can vary in actual strength by 7% some say. Turns out the law allows for this!
I started having terrible panic attacks suddenly after taking diazepam for more than a decade.
Finally, I checked the manufacturers on old bottles manufacturers (some are cheaper, more profit for the pharmacy). I was not notified they had changed & the pharmacy had switched at the same time I begin having trouble!
I switched pharmacies to return to the old manufacturers generic brand and I was fine.
I've read of other people actually having withdrawals from a weaker generic of the supposedly the same strength.
Here is the problem.
I'm confused how photos help when you don't need to identify the medication.
Unfortunately, I don't remember the names of the generics except Teva works for me.
Recently accidentally switched to Ivax. We'll see.
