I was told by one of the clerks at the MRI clinic that I can have an MRI as long as it is titanium and no other metal including screws. Is this true or will I have to have a cat scan for the rest of my life?
I have a titanium rod in my back. Can I have an MRI?

8 years ago I had rods and screws put in my back that they said was Titanium, is it safe to go into a closed M.R.I.
yes
It is no problem for you to have an MRI with titanium in your back. The staff at the MRI facility will ask you if you have any metal in your body, but once they know it is titanium you will be cleared to have the MRI.
Thank you, I have been told conflicting information about this and one hospital refuses to do a MRI because of the metal.
I've had so many MRIs in the past 13 years since I've had titanium in my body that I've lost count. I've never had any problem. Do they explain the reasoning behind their denial? MRIs don't affect titanium at all. Interesting. I'm going to be having spinal cord stimulator surgery here soon and with that you definitely can't have a MRI. I've been told that surgeon's will be able to do neurosurgery on my neck in the future without needing an MRI - they will be able to see everything they need to see by doing a CAT scan. It may not be the way they prefer to do it, but they can do it.
I had 2 MRI done to me. Every time I gotten one ,. I always tell them to stop. I have Titanium in my back with a cage to hold the rods in me. My back get's really hot with in 5 minutes. I like to know why this Happens.?
