I started this medication 5 days ago (I've had 9 doses so far). Since then, I've developed bloody diarrhea (stool typical of diarrhea with blood clots, surrounded by enough liquid blood to turn the toilet water bright red). I've also experienced a worsening of GERD symptoms, including burping, and a constant sensation of fullness/bloating. Is this related to the hydralazine or is it something separate? For added info, I've had GERD and gastritis for years and have had GI bleeding before with the use of NSAIDs meloxicam and ibuprofen (not combined, separate). This is 1 of 4 blood pressure medications I take daily, the others being metoprolol tartrate, valsartan, and doxazosin.
Hydralazine - Can this cause lower GI bleeding (toilet) and upper GI indigestion (burping)?

If the blood is red, not brown/black than you have internal bleeding located somewhere near the rectum/large colon. This is never good & always dangerous. The cause could be the meds, could be from something else. Visit the ER, go to a walk-in clinic, call your Dr. or your gastroenterologist TODAY. If your feeling bloated there’s a chance blood is being held in your body, not coming out through your colon. It is so important you seek medical attention TODAY. Good Luck, hope you feel better, God Bless
I suggest you discontinue Hydralazine and contact your DR. asap.
