How long does it take for nitroglycerin to work?

I hope you are doing better now. Nitroglycerin should take effect within 5 minutes. If it does not, you can take another one in 5 minutes. Nitroglycerin can be taken every 5 minutes, up to 3 tablets. If, after 15 minutes, the chest pains are still there, you need to call 911 immediately or have someone immediately drive you to the emergency room, however, it is best to call 911. The next time something like this happens, please do not ask this type of "emergency" question on here as people may or may not answer your question and your question is most definitely an emergency. I am not trying to discourage you from asking any questions on this site, but I just want you to be aware that many times people's questions go unanswered for days or not at all. My nitro plan was to take the first pill and if no relief in 5 minutes take a second. If no relief get to a hospital immediately.
