The reviews of sertraline seem to be so positive. Has anyone experienced any irregular heart beats? It feels like it's skipping a beat. I didn't take my sertraline yesterday and my heart was normal. I took it again today and the skips have come back again?

Thanks wildcat, I've actually been on it for a year and the heart things started around 6 months ago, but not bad, now I seem to feel a funny rush/skip every night when I'm relaxed like over and over.
Carrie,
It seems to be related to your medication and Lexapro can cause a few cardiac arrhythmias in some rare cases but you'd also want to be sure to rule out any underlying disorder. It seems odd that it would come up 6 months in but anything's possible and you should get your doctor's professional advice.
Thanks again. I will. I just... wondered you know - because I guess the GP won't know whether the 2 are linked. I'm booked in for a heart check on Wednesday
Good luck with that! I had a full cardiac workup done recently and everything turned out fine. Don't fret about the exam... it's non-invasive and nothing to worry about. You should get your results right away.
Take care,
Thank you.
I'm not worried but more. I guess I think they'll say its all fine and I'll just be stuck with this feeling! But I'll give it a go)
Hi, Carrieleon!
Yes, palpitations and sometimes a fast heart rate are common side effects that affect about 1-10% of users when first starting an antidepressant like sertraline. They generally subside over a few days to a week or so.
I wouldn't be too concerned but it's always a good idea to let your doctor know.
