I am 19. I started having hypertension not too long ago and I’m taking amdolipine 5mg for it. I’m also experiencing a lot of pain on my body, specially on my left side of the body. I went to a neurologist and he sent me to do some tests and also prescribed me gabapentin. I forgot to ask him if it will affect my blood pressure but he was aware I had hypertension and still gave me the prescription. But I wan t to be sure it won’t make my blood pressure worse. Please help
Does gabapentin increase blood pressure ?

You are too young to be on hypertension meds. There must be an underlying cause of your hypertension which can be treated as well.
You can talk to your Dr about trying some herbs. I am taking beetroot 1000mg once a day and 2.5mg amlodipine. My BP is now stable at 122/78 most days. I plan to wean myself from the amlo any time soon. Eating mostly veggies and walking after dinner have helped me a lot in managing my BP.
It tends to lower my blood pressure
It never affected my blood pressure either way, and I've been on it for over 20 years. For the last 2 years I've been dealing with HBP--the first time in my life. I ran really low since I was 16 (I'm 63 now)!! But the doctor said he thinks it's due to the severe pain I'm in. I'm sure it is too. Like most pain patients, I've been weaned drastically from the meds I was on for about 11 years. Now I live my life in bed. But although my BP has been really high every month when I go (he also had me monitor it daily for a month--bad!), he didn't take me off the Gabapentin. So I'm sure you're fine. Gabapentin really helps with my neurological problems, although I can only take it at bedtime.
Oh okay, I will try and see if it affects me or not. Thanks :)
Good luck. I hope it helps your neuropathy as much as it helps mine.

I suggest you talk to your doctor before the weekend.
with me, the gabapentin tends to lower my blood pressure, did you check online to see if that is a possible side effect? good luck, hope it helps you.
I’ve checked and it doesn’t say it’s a possible side effect but some people said it caused their BP to increase... I guess I’ll just try and see
