How much food should I take when I take xarelto 20mg (ribaroxaban)?

I don't think it matters. I think the idea is to get that tiny pill out of the stomach and into your intestine. In an empty stomach its all acid. By eating you move it faster so it starts dissolving where its suppose to be. Tea and toast, biscuits or cereal. I'd avoid acidic juices. Big or small meal, get that pill moving. Take the pill first with liquid, then start your meal after within 30 minutes.

I agree with unclerobmac. Take pill with water and start a normal meal within 30 minutes. Take it easy on green leafy veggies, lettuce, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, cranberry juice. Avoid alcohol and wines and remain hydrated during the day. You can't go wrong.

Actually, you don't have to watch the greens with Xarelto. That's one of the reasons several of my doctors say they prefer Xarelto. There are NO foods to make sure you're avoiding or being super consistent with like you have to be when on coumadin. The other big reason is that you don't have to have your INR tested monthly to see if your dose needs adjusting. For some reason, it's a "one dose fits all" medication.

Actually, the 10 mg dose can be taken without regard to meals, but the 15 and 20 mg tablets should be taken with a full meal. The bioavailability of the 15 and 20 mg tablets can be reduced by up to 80%!!! when not taken with food.
