I’ve made up my mind that I want to completely come off Fioricet- I’ve been on it for 3-4 years taking 2-3 a day. I’m scared to death of doing this due to withdrawal effects. I’ve never been addicted to anything but I feel it’s time to cut this drug all together. Any help and suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you

I would definitely discuss it with yourdDoctor and have them help you with a tapering schedule. This is what I did when I decided to get off opiate pain medication. My doctor was able to work with me at my own pace to ensure it was as safe and as comfortable for me as possible. With any type of taper though you're obviously not going to feel the greatest going through it and even once you're past the physical w/d there's the mental you may still have to contend with again something your physician can help you with. Try and see if you can get time off work prior to your taper in case you feel too ill to go in. This way you can be more comfortable to focus on it and possibly get through the hump. If it's anything like coming off opiates then when I detoxed off of Lortab it took me a good five days to get to the point where I could stand again and eat something. I'd recommend Imodium, and something for sleep. You may experience hot and cold sweats and achy muscles so have a heating pad and ice pack handy. Clean towels and Epson salt for hot baths. Pillows and blankets and a bunch of mindless movies. Again consult with your doctor for the best help on tapering. Sorry I'm not more help good luck
Thank you so much
If you don’t mind me asking did you have major withdrawal problems, and long did you taper? Are you still feeling better? I’m just super scared of withdrawal issues. Thanks so much.
