I'm writing this whilst under a heated throw blanket and I'm still freezing. Also has anyone else noticed that things that hurt a lot more than normal? I'm feeling like a pansy now. I have a PE, that's why I'm on Eliquis.

Your symptoms are all part of the Eliquis experience. In time your joints and muscles will scream with pain. I hope to don’t get sticky hair syndrome like I did. When wet it looks and feels like someone has poured a bottle of Elmer’s glue in it. How do I know? I went off my Eliquis 5 weeks ago. My hair has cleared up completely and the other symptoms improved by 75%. In its place I take 2 tablets of turmeric. It must have circumin and black pepper extract in it. Just had a protime last week and it was normal.
Been on Eliquis/apixaban for several weeks too. I am always COLD now, which is unusual for me. I've also experienced Priuritis (Extreme Itchiness) and tried Cetirizine which didn't help at all, so I moved onto Diphenhydramine, another form of an ANTI-HISTAMINE. Helps a bit, but I was advised to change my medication to Rivaroxan/Xarelto for my Blood Thinner to see if that would help those poor medication reactions. My Cardiologist never heard of these bad reactions to Eliquis. Luckily for me, Melissa at my VA Clinic made this suggestion since her studies indicate that taking Diphenhydramine with Eliquis can cause Premature Dementia in Geriatric Patients. Also, Hydrocortisone Cream 1%, helps control the Itchiness of my lower inner legs and a Chinese Back Scratcher helps my back, if only temporarily.
I’ve been taking Eliquis for over two years and ever since I started taking it at least a month or so after starting I felt a lot colder. I don’t have an electric blanket on me but I do have a throw that I use.
Despite medical reasons for why blood thinners such as Eliquis should not affect body temperature or feelings of coldness, this effect has been commonly reported among several elderly individuals in our retirement community who have started taking this class of drugs. My wife, a PhD epidemiologist has been taking Eliquis for 1.5 months for Afib (now resolved by cardioversion) is currenly under a blanket in our warm house and wearing a sweatshirt while ACTUALLY shivering. This effect may/may not be a direct effect of Eliquis but since she has not started any new drugs the association is remarkable and the effect is not imagined.
Yup I’m cold almost all the time and I live in Florida….always have my trusty sweatshirt haha
Husband has been on Eliquis for 2 wks. after knee revision surgery. Last night his chills were so bad he talked of hypothermia (which he is familiar with!), even though his skin felt normal. I am annoyed this OBVIOUS side effect is not listed. Overheating the body in an effort to not freeze when feeling a false chill cannot be healthy, or safe!
I have been on Eliquis for about 6 1/2 months. I have been freezing for the entire time.. I’m seriously annoyed at the doctor who prescribed it, though I will say at the time he did a great job of clearing my PEs; as in multiple and massive. I broke my tibia last year, and literally was moving very little. But, the med is contraindicated for patients who have had spinal issues, of which I’ve had 2 spinal surgeries. Now, I where at least 3, sometimes 4 shirts, because I cannot get warm. Your answer is a resounding yes, I have been and am always cold!
I have been on Eliquis for 6 days and I get bouts of shivering. I have a forehead thermometer and it normally reads around 97.6°, but now is reading 96.4°. The cold doesn't last right now, but I can't stop shivering when it occurs.
I am also freezing on eliquis, especially at night. Even when my feet are warm to the touch, they feel like blocks of ice. I have heavy socks, a mattress pad, 2 layers of blanket plus an electric blanket. (Use to warm the bed before getting in. Not recommended to turn on for those with neuropathy) How do you get warm?
So Im 33 and had a dvt a little over year ago in October 2020. Right before covid, but long enough to live through two winters…I cannot tell you how cold I have been. I live I Ohio, where it’s 70 degrees sunny the first day and the next four days it will snow. There have been nights I have piled on blankets but still cold. Wearing jackets and full sweatsuits in bed is a regular thing even sometimes in the summer. I cannot stay warm and I know I won’t make it through the winter alive many more years in Ohio. This is an issue and I wish I knew what caused it.
I have been on Eliquis for 6 weeks now for a DVT Blood clot and since I've been on Eliquis I'm always cold. Feel like a wimp as my family calls me now. I live in the mountains of Northern Calif for the last 2 years, but until i started Eliquis no issues with the cold winters. Heck, I'm looking real estate in Palm Desert as my forever home if i have to take Eliquis for the rest of my life. Best of luck to us all! God bless! Ld.
I have the exact feelings since on Eliquis. Always cold always tired. I also had PE in 2019
My mom just started on Eliquis and says the same thing! She was switched from Coumadin. She was not cold on Coumadin even though that is one of the listed side effects. She is freezing - suffering cold - with the Eliquis. I found your question trying to look up info about why she is so miserable.
I have been on Eliquis for 3 years, ever since my stroke. Eliquis does thin the blood to help you with your health issue. So naturally you will feel more chilled than before. I am not sure how cold you are, but I sit with a blanket most of the time. I became used to some of the drop in body temperature, but I am still cooler than I used to be. I just dress warmer. I also have RA, so everything hurts. (lol) Sorry, I cannot help you with the hurting problem.
