Elavil - What is the best antidepressant to use?

Everyone responds differently to medication. I was on lexapro for 11 years and the initial side effects for me were quite strong ( nausea, increased anxiety, fuzzy head) It took about three months before I felt better with my anxiety but once I did I remained well for a number of years.
I’m currently on Zoloft and the side effects have been much less for me.
My niece, on the other hand was on Zoloft and experienced lots of side effects but now she is on lexapro she has been side effect free!
Really you just need to go with your doctor’s advice. Give the medication at least 6-8 weeks, sometimes longer, before making any judgment.

Every person responds differently to these medications and there's no predicting which one is the most appropriate for you. There's no medication that's "one size fits all" or we'd all be taking it.
So it becomes a matter of trial and error and some people need to try a couple different medications before they find the most effective one for them.
Something to remember is that the majority of users experience no side effects at all and those that do find them mild and transient lasting only a few days to a week or so.
Usually the place to start is the medication that's prescribed by your doctor based on your medical history and current symptoms.
