I have been on this Medication for two weeks and a couple days.
I have had the sweating side effects and vivid dreams. I take 150 MG of it.
Can anyone tell me how long it took for it to work on the depression AND obsessive thoughts? (OCD)
Thanks!

It does help with the over thinking
Kaleigh21; There really is not any magic week I wish I could say but normally the most improvement is between week 4 and week 6 when you really start feeling better if this is the correct dose and medication.Sorry There is no way to nail it down but it could even be a bit sooner keep your fingers crossed many people have been helped very much by this medication. stick with it and take it about the same time each day to help avoid up's and downs. have a good day.
Kaleigh21; This is all normal at this point from where you are at two weeks many of the side effects start to go away But it can start to kick in with some of your problems in the 4 week area Like Laurie said but to get the full benefits of this medication you reach a full blood level at 6 to 8 weeks. But sometimes the doctor may adjust your dose up some if needed you have room for this medication to be increased if necessary. Try and stick with it. Remember to always try and take this at about the same time each day helps too. And if any problems seem to be to hard check with your doctor. You are pretty much through the worst part when these medications sometimes increase the symtoms that are being treated.Have a good day sounds like your doing just fine. Chuck1957 It does get better.
Have you heard of what week and what dosage is best for OCD?
Hi Kaleigh21,
In each of the links below, you'll find some great reviews of successes for people taking venlafaxine for (1) OCD and then (2) depression. Some say how soon they felt better. The drug didn't help everyone who tried it, but that's entirely normal.

2- https://www.drugs.com/comments/venlafaxine/for-major-depressive-disorder.html
It can take upwards of a month or so to feel the effects of this type medication. Give it awhile longer and if no results, let the doctor know.
Have you heard if this works for the unwanted thoughts?
Yes, it might well quiet the intrusive thoughts, but may not remove them entirely. Sometimes we have to work on this in talk therapy to learn to cope and control this type thinking.
effexor, depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, venlafaxine, major depressive disorder, side effect, anxiety and stress, medication
