Hi, Gigi! You could try taking it as directed because the side effects resolve within a few days to a week or so. By stopping the medication or missing/skipping doses you're risking discontinuation syndrome with the symptoms you describe.
The only safe and effective way to wean off antidepressants is by using a decreasing dose schedule supplied by the doctor who prescribed it for you.
The half life of Effexor XR is about 15 - 20 hours so it will take about 3 - 4 days to completely leave your system, although you may continue to feel discontinuation symptoms for several more days.
Thank you. I am taking as directed. My Dr started me on 300 XR 4 years ago in the fall of 2016 I went from 300mg to 75. by my Dr. I was a hot mess I have been taking 37.5 for a little over a year I just tried a few days ago to begin weaning myself again now I remember why I’ve put this off. I’m going to stick it out and not take this crap again I’m taking wellbrutrin 150 mg XR currently I don’t like how the Effexor makes me feel is why I’m coming off of it.
