I took Effexor XR for many years..well over ten years. Never took more than 75 mg. Last May I had a bleeding stroke due to high blood pressure. At the time I was taking a blood thinner and drugs like Advil and Aleve which may have contributed to the bleed. Because Effexor XR can and does raise blood pressure I needed to exchange it for Zoloft. The SSRI drugs are not good for me and I would love to know if any of you have had blood pressure problems with Effexor XR. I miss it.

I too have been on 75mg for 10yrs and have high blood pressure. I started BP medication before I got cancer. At that time I was on Zoloft and struggling especially getting the cancer diagnosis so my oncologist switched me to Effexor. It’s a miracle for my depression and also helps to alleviate some of the other side effects of my other drugs (yes-I know!…drugs to fix other drug issues

Hypertension/increased blood pressure is considered a common side effect affecting 1% to 10% of people being treated with this SNRIs.
