Does Wellbutrin increase your sex drive?

I've been on bupropion for ~7 weeks (300mg the last 2 weeks, 200mg before that), and there's been a significant DECREASE in libido for me. I'm 65, and the only other times in the last 50+ years I have experienced such a lack in sex drive have been during periods of illness. Also ongoing mild tremors and occasional waves of vertigo. It was prescribed for ADHD, but so far I'm seeing few if any positive effects.

I have been on Wellbutrin SR 150mg for 6 weeks now for quitting smoking and incidentally it's helping with a lot of other things as well. My sex drive has noticeably increased.

I have chronic depression and anxiety so I was on Celexa for years and maintained a high libido which is normal for me. However, I had to stop taking it because I started having a serious side effect. I then got on Effexor which I only took for about 6 months and had to stop taking because I was having many horrible side effects, one of which was complete loss of libido. Even when I got off of it over a year ago my sex drive never went back to normal. I had ZERO interest in it and did not enjoy it at all.

Within week 3 or 4 of taking Wellbutrin, my sex drive started to come back and I'm so happy. My husband and I really missed that part of our relationship.

Obviously it affects everyone different but for me it's definitely increased my sex drive.

I started taking the SR 150 about 10 days ago for smoking cessation. i will say I think already it has helped a lot with the not smoking. They don't taste right, and makes me nauseated at times. I've just about quit to 2-3 a day. AND the most obvious "side effect" i've noticed is my sex drive. My husband and I have both have fairly good sex drive, Im 64 he is 54. But my orgasms happened quicker and stronger... is that unusual with anyone else??

It certainly has increased my sex drive. I switched from Paxil to Wellbutrin because I heard Wellbutrin may help control over eating.

I feel very weepy also, missing loved ones who have died.

I suspect that at my tender age = 68, sex drive is mostly a non-issue. However, unlike most respondents who are taking Wellbutrin, I have found that my libido and orgasm are essentially dead using this medication. And, even more bizarre, Prozac is the Spanish Fly on the wall.

I am on day 4... not sure how valid my opinion is but I feel a little hornier than normal but I have never had an orgasm from sex alone. I would absolutely love this to help me with that. Good luck.

I started on Wellbutrin about a month ago. I couldnt get an erection nor could i have an orgasm until i started Wellbutrin. I am also on Effexor for depression which lowered my libido. I am so happy now. Even though i'm 59 i feel so much better since. Thank you @Wellbutrin

I was taking blood pressure meds that took away my libido but once my doctor prescribed the Wellbutrin, it came back better than it was before I lost it. I'm 40 years old and my sex drive is like im in my 20's. Oh and it helped wonderfully with my depression symptoms, I feel great!!!

It did NOTHING for me as far as my sex drive goes. All it did for me was give me severe dizziness, headaches, loss of concentration, nausea, and severe depression. I thought it was supposed to help my depression. I cried for 4 days straight and had a breakdown before calling my doctor in a panic. He told me to STOP TAKING IT IMMEDIATELY. It didn't help me. I guess it effects everyone differently. Now I'm back on Celexa and loving it!

It increased my sex drive, which is a good thing for me. I wouldn't want to be on a medication that made me have less of a sex drive than I already had. No complaints from my husband on this one.

I would not say I had the same effect. But I was able to become more interested in it. The Drs chalked it up to my being off of the ones that have sexual side effects of the opposite.

Ive been on paxil 60mg for 8 years for anxiety, then one day i had a red spot on my leg and my wife said i should go see the Dr. so i did and it was a blood clot. Well i thought the worst and i went into a depression and needed something else. Ive been on Wellbutrin for 3 weeks now and feel so much better. my life seems to be back and my wife is much happier then just a few weeks ago in bed.

I first started lexapro and notice I had no sex drive and I was always tired, no energy and no interest at all, in all the things I use to enjoy. I researched wellbutrin and desided to go on it. My doctor agreed. Once on wellbutrin I had alot of energy, thirsty alot and couldn't keep still. Sex was out of this world. Not only did I have an orgazism, I had multiples orgazisms my partner was happy :)
