Hello, for the last 4 months I have been feeling nausea. Feels like morning sickness (I'm a guy by the way) ... I never actually vomit just gag a lot. Went to the doc and told me I had H Pylory... This bacteria has given me GERD and gastritis.. Would Zofran work for this type of nausea? By the way Zi am treating the h Pylory all ready.
Does Zofran also work for nausea related to GERD & Gastritis issues?

Hello, thanks for the reply... Well Im barely on the 1st week of taking the 2 antibiotics and proton inhibitors... so I am assuming the H Pylori is still there but I am just tired of this nausea... thats the main symptom... just feel like gagging... After you got rid of the H Pilory did your nausea go away?

Hi again... the HPylori was several years ago and yes, the vomiting and diarrhea and nausea all went away but I continued the omeprazole... then 2 years ago, I began feeling like you with the gagging and sick to my stomach every morning like I was pregnant! I had gone on 40mg omeprazole due to a lung problem and taking prednisone which increased the production of acid... but what I found a few months ago of all this gagging and feeling nausea was the medication!!! it also was slowing my urinating down causing Urinary Tract Infection and shortness of breath!!! My lung doctor told me it was not my lungs causing that problem and I stopped the omeprazole to every other day 20mg and all the nausea and shortness of breath went away!!! so believe it or not, the meds that helped the gagging, etc.was now causing the problems... very confusing. I am now on 20mg every other day but I suffer after a full day and a half without this med...
I suffer with the heartburn, swallowing, etc but deal with it until my pill the next day... now I do not have the sick to my stomach feeling or the shortness of breath.

Give this med a chance. Mine did go away (the vomiting)... if it does not, then my suggestion is to return to the doctor.

I am not sure what Zofran is for? but I had the same experience as you.
I sure can relate to how you felt/feel! I had the HPylori and was in Paris, France when I got so ill with the vomiting but had the nausea and gagging before I left for the trip (this is 8 years ago). When I returned, my doctor diagnosed me with the above and put me on the 2 week regiment of antibiotics and Prilosec (generic Omeprazole) and I have been on it ever since. But the drawback is the meds create side affects after taking it for a length of time. Are you taking a Proton Pumper which inhibits the acid production? Usually Nexium 40mg or Prilosec 20mg or more can help but your GastroEnterologist is the one to help you with that decision. It does sound like you are either adverse to the meds you are taking or your Hpylori may not be completely healed. The doctor will decide. Good luck to you as I had the same feeling in the morning as you had... no fun!
