I have tried different colored 'bars' but am still a little apprehensive to try the round Alprazolam, and this is what my pharmacy is now distributing. A difference or a mind trick?
Is there a difference in the strength between the "bars" or round "pizzas" Xanax (Alprazolam)?

I can promise you that the (usually larger white with 4 score cuts) round alprazolam’s ARE 2mg Xanax (in Generic form).
You can always enter the pill color, shape, and what’s imprinted on it. Right on your google search and it will come up as to what the meds are.
That’s the strongest dose of Xanax made. UNLESS you get 3mg Extended Release Xanax.
Those would be the only ones Stronger then that.
The “bars” seemed to be favored, but the make up is ultimately the same. It is against one too many laws for pharmacy companies to add placebo ingredients into medications.
There was a time when pharmacy’s were getting fake generic bars... but this was many years ago, and with the changes the DEA has made, it is impossible that someone would get away with that again.
If you feel like a certain medication isn’t working the same for you, call the pharmacy and inform them first and foremost, and then be sure to contact your doctor.
They (the pharmacy) can NOT short you, or give you a lesser dose bc they think it’s too much. They must still listen to your dr.
But as for generics, for the main part they do exactly what their name brand brothers do!!! The bottom line, and short answer to your question- NO. the only difference is the shape and exterior colors, otherwise they’re all the same. 2mg alprazolam.

It works with my anxiety there’s no doubt about that. It just didn’t make me sleepy as the 1mg football shaped pill did. I used it as a sleep aid as well. I went back to my doctor and they prescribed me ambien which does not NOTHING for me. I’ve taken tazadone...
I feel horrible in the morning and I wake up in the middle of the night. The footballs would knock me out all night. My doctor said the same aprozalam is aprozalam. If it was a placebo I would know. I would have tremors like crazy. I need to figure something out. Thanks!

The doctor just increased my dosage to 2mg (bar) I was taking the 1 mg (blue football) I used to take one blue football and would fall asleep within 20-30 mins. I took the 2 mg bar and I did not feel sleepy at all. I’m wondering if there is a difference. It’s so strange I did not feel sleepy. Has anyone ever has this issue?

How many blue footballs where you taking at a time? 1 or 2. Bc if he switched you from taking two 1 mg blue footballs but then switched you to 2 mg bars then the difference is they are time released and your body might not be used to it bc the blue footballs dont have a time release on them. Thats probably why you fell asleep from the footballs so quick and not the bars. Plus was it the white 2mg bar or was it another color bar? I find that alot of the time due to your tolerance to the pills that the white bars wont do anything for me versus the yellow, green bars get me tired and they give me a affect.
Basically what im trying to say is if you we're prescribed 2 blue footballs a day to help with your anxiety and put you to bed then it effects you sooner bc its not a time release and it exquals the same as 2 mg, but if he switched you to a white bar which is still 2 mgs but then they are a time released pill but some have a shorter time released then other like a yellow and the green ones. So maybe if that ones not helping you sleep or not helping with your anxiety talk to your doctor and explain to them if they want you on the bars instead of the footballs that we're actually helping you then they need to switch you to a different color bar. Also some pills are made threw different manufacturing which means some of the pills like the white bars are generic, versus the ones that are the real ones (yellow bars and green bars) . They effect you all different, depending on what company their made at.

I have tried them all. Footballs that can come in blue and white. As for the bar shaped I have done the white,yellow and green.They have always been 2 mg. Now the round ones they are called Ativan. I take the generic lorazapams. They all do different things but the one thing they do have in common is they help with anxiety. In my opinion my lorazapams are the best. I hope I was of some help. ;)

babysallie, you are talking oranges to his/her apple question... lol, anyway my local pharmacy ran out of "bars" on my script so they had to give me twenty of my one twenty I take in what you all are calling "pizza" ones, it's crazy to see how different parts of the country call them different names, we always call them in SC... "hockey pucks" and the bars we call totem poles or hockey stick or just bars or poles... All that being said, I hate the round ones myself bc possibly mind over matter since the bars was what had helped me before and still do. Ativan or lorazepam is way different from any of your question.

This is not true. The round ones that people are calling "pizzas" are Xanax 2 mg. I have been getting them for years.

I've been prescribed to Xanax 2mg for a total of:14yrs.The 1st 10yrs,took them 4x day&then 4yrs ago, he tells me that he HAS to taper all pts.to a dose of 4mgs or less,but, he's not going to taper me that much,due to knowing I NEED that amt.&knows I'm not abusing it.I've taken ALL types of xanax(green,white,yellow rectangles tried the ones scored with: 3&4lines. As well as,the round"pizza" 1's. In my opinion, I've found that NONE of them work as good as the : WHITE "BAR"RECTANGULAR SHAPED, SCORED WITH 4LINES.
It's a good chance that my "brain" just thinks that, due to the fact,I had been taking ONLY, that specific brand, for over 13yrs&gettin a" new" pill( the LOOK of it changed,so I got nervous it wasn't going to help me as well as the other 1's did)all of a sudden,especially for anxiety,there's a good chance that u might believe that 1 is different then the other, especially in my case, where "CHANGING" is 1 of my trigger's that cause's me panic attacks & high anxiety.

I do believe that you mean 2 or 3 scores/lines. The green bars break into 3 pieces with the 2 lines scored into them and the white and yellow bars break into 4 pieces with the 3 lines scored into them.

really there is no difference as far as how much alprazolam is in it, the only thing that may differ is the inactive/binding ingredients. Now personally, i prefer the round mylan, we call them "pies" in my area. i don't know what it is but they seem to have a better effect on me than the bars--just saying.. anyway take it easy

I've taken all diff shapes of xanax football,rnd ,and bar shapes. All of the ones shaped like bars I've taken have been 2mg, as for the round, oval, or the squarish timed released ones go to the pill identifier and enter the shape,#,letters etc and let it figure the med out for you, but really as long as the bottle said alprazolam they all helped about the same.

They are just made by different companies. There can be some difference in the way they are absorbed.

Thank you for commenting. I actually tried the "pizzas" and found them to be quite nice. My anxiety was lowered to a tolerable feeling quicker than I had expected. This is m first time using this forum. I do a lot of reading but never have I posted a question, so again, thank you for taking the time out.
