Shealynn; It sounds to me that you just started this medication not very long ago. And if that is the case It is not uncommon to have to take it longer to reach the bigger joints like the hips. So if I am right you should continue to take this for a while yet. Because the swelling does not go out of the joints right away it takes some time. But Voltaren has proven to be very effective. If you can handle it please try to continue with it for a while but if it does get to bad get back in to see the doctor and let him or her know what is going on. And remember it is best to take these type of medications with FOOD or Milk to buffer your stomach. hope this answers you question and that this medication works out for you. have a great day.
Sheal. Also, remember there are many different anti-inflammatories so don't give up hope. Your doctor after a while can always try another one. But this one is been very effective. good luck to you.
Thank you for answering me. I have been on this drug for 2 weeks how much longer do you think I should stick this out before asking for a cortisone shot? I'm tolerant of pain but this has me down! I have a large dog who I need to walk and right now it's difficult!
Shealynn; I think if it was me I would wait at least a week to ten days. That is if it does not get any worse. Some Doctors are weird about cortisone shots so you might call the office and make sure they well give you one tell them you just can't handle it anymore. But if your doctor has given you the shots before just make sure you're in the right time zone. I know this weather is not doing you any good. bless you.
