I just started on Cymalta last week and have noticed that when I smoke now I start sweating, feel flushed and dizzy. Is this something that will pass or do I have to choose between Cymbalta or Cigarettes? (I know I should quit but I'm just not ready to yet.)

I just started taking simbalta. I smoke hear and there is it ok or not?

Hey man same thing happened to me, but it started within like the 3rd day. One time it even caused me to vomit. I switched to lighter cigarettes, but it's passed by now. 2nd week or so.

Hello paulv70. I would concentrate on the Cymbalta. The plus side is that you'll not be up to having a cigarette. Regards pledge

Hi paulv70. There are all kinds of reports on Cymbalta and smoking. This side affect will likely go away,but how long that might take just depends on your body and how it processes the drug.Cymbalta(Zyban) is often used in combination with Wellbutrin for smoking cessation.Did you know that smokers who are taking Cymbalta actually get less benefit from their dosage? Up to 50% of your dose can be negated in other words,making you have to have a higher dosage.The sweating is your bodies way of telling you that it does not like this combo of Cymbalta and the chemicals in tobacco.
I understand that you are not ready to quit smoking,as I was not ready to quit when I quit.Point being,that when we allow ourselves to think about longterm, not being with our longtime "friend" causes alot of anxiety.But you have an opportunity here!! Your taking a med that WILL help you quit.Why not use this advantage to do what you are going to do at some point anyway? But realize this... if you continue the Cymbalta,it CAN make you want cigs even more than you did before you started.Many people also find themselves wanting alcohol as well,even the social drinker.tejas129

I wonder if all antidepressants have that effect on some people. Zyban (wellbutrin) is marketed specifically for it.

I have taken cymbalta for years and smoked for more years than that. I've never experienced the problem you're describing, but I have to admit it's been so long since I first started the cymbalta that I could have perhaps forgotten. I would think that the reaction will probably go away. Maybe you'll be lucky and it will cause you to cut back on your smoking a bit!
