There’s an ongoing debate about whether this drug causes weight gain, weight loss or is weight neutral.

I’ve been on 30 mg of duloxetine for over 2 years. Concurrent issues with multiple gastric ulcers, diverticulitis and oesophagitis have meant that I eat very little. My stomach is swollen and I have no appetite. When I try to eat, I am ‘full’ after just a few mouthfuls. I feel breathless after food. I wee very little.

Yet in spite of low-calorie intake in the time I’ve been on this drug, my weight has Increased from 140 lb to 165 lb. My scales have ‘stuck’ at this weight during all this time. It never varies morning or night. I feel as though I’m drowning. It’s clearly ‘water weight’

I’m not sure that this ‘weight’ will come off when I stop this drug. It causes bladder and kidney issues. This would account for the fact that so many say that they can’t shift the ‘weight’ even after stopping duloxetine and that others have no problems.

We need to consider that Cymbalta is causing significant damage to electrolytes and fluid balance. If you do an internet investigation of this, it is suggested that the drug can cause SADH (Syndrome of Anti Diuretic Hormone) in some.

Don’t assume it’s calorie intake if you can’t shift the pounds. See your doctor.
