I do it all the time. I even cut a 10 mg. into quarters a lot of times (with a pill splitter though it never cuts exactly evenly) because if I take the whole 10mg. I am too tired to function in the morning.

Do not crush, chew, break, or open an extended-release capsule. Swallow it whole.
Too much of the medication is released at once causing unpleasent side effects.
