I recently got my wisdoms out and I was prescribed Clindamycin as a pill. And I was planning to go to a party on Saturday for New Years [3 days after the surgery]. I was prescribed to take one pill every 8 hours for about 10 days. And I was planning on consuming alcohol that 4th night and I have been doing a lot of research and it says Clindamycin does not interact with Ethanol or Alcohol. So is it safe to consume alcohol while taking this medication? If not am I able to skip a dose and drink then take the medication again after? Thanks.

The myth that you cannot drink on antibiotics started in the tall sailing ships days by doctors who had to treat venereal disease and devised from keeping the sailors getting it again from prostitutes in the taverns so the sailors who were told they could not drink simply avoided the taverns and thus avoided the prostitutes
I just wanted to add that if you regularly consume alcohol, where your liver could possibly be damaged, then you might want to think twice about mixing the two. You should be ok, but just wantd to throw in my thoughts... .
Good point ;)
What a brainyac, lol it takes a long time and lots of alcohol to damage liver... thank you for that advice hope you are available in the future for more serious information...
Usually, it does take a lot to damage a liver, HOWEVER, in the presence of any antibiotic, the liver is going to be under a lot more stress. With the presence of alcohol, the liver will temporarily inflame and could cause mono-like symptoms in the lymph nodes as well as in the medial abdominal region. If you drink to the point of alcohol poisoning, which can be identified by vomiting, passing out, blurred vision, etc., you will be increasing the chances of having many painful side effects that will go away but could put you on bed rest for a few days.

There is no problem with consuming alcohol while taking the antibiotic clindamycin.
is it okay to become intoxicated on alcohol while taking this antibiotic ?
thanks.
Alcoholic beverages will not affect the efficacy of this antibiotic. On the other hand, if you are taking pain medicine due to the surgery, you will want to be careful as the alcohol can potentially increase the side effects of the pain medicine.
