I have the symptoms of a yeast infection, itching, sore, white discharge. I took the canesoral one treatment pill yesterday(saturday) at 5:30 pm and it is 11.:50 pm (sunday). Still itching, sore and discharge. Should I wait a bit more or consult with my doctor? I've also had two shots of apple cider vinegar and ate a clove of garlic... sigh.. This sucks :( I'm supposed to start my period tomorrow also and I havne't taken any antibiotics for two weeks. Unsure of what could be triggering it. It's not my laundry detergant or softner, or body wash, i wear cotton underwear too. I read that this happens before a womens period sometimes.. Double whammy.. So! Any advice?

UPDATE!I started my period on monday and I went to the doctor and got another oral pill treatment of fluconazole this past Tuesday. He said to come back for a vaginal swab if symptoms still persist. Mostly every symptom went away and I only have the tiniest bit of itching. I feel very raw inside and I had sex with my boyfriend last night (saturday). It was painful and it felt like he was stretching me. Is this from the oral treatments? :( It's very frustrating and even when I wipe with toilet paper it feels raw. Thoughts? I think I will call my doctor tomorrow and get another appt to see him. :(

It can take up to a week for a treatment to work fully. Symptoms may get better once your period starts. Vaginal pH changes at period time can make symptoms worse.

Its possible you will have symptoms for a few days after you kill the yeast, just from the irritation you have from it.

Soemtimes the one dose oral antifungal doesn't clear the vaginal thrush properly ... it also depends on how long you have had the infection for. You could go get another dose or see your doctor.
