Hello jprisco. Just to add to Rajive, its taken on a daily basis and do not if you can manage it, split your dose. That way, you ensure the full potency of celexa is working to the maxiumn.best to you,
General instructions to take celexa are: For the medicine to work properly, it must be taken as prescribed. It will not work if you stop taking it.
Please do seek medical advice, take care, best wishes!
Actually, it can help as needed. Off label scrips are written for Celexa for premature ejaculation in men. So, it can have a an immediate effect (in about four hours) and with a 30 hour half life, it will stay in your system for several days. Effexor and Cymbalta are SNRI's and if taken daily for a month and stopped abruptly can cause discontinuance syndrome (as stated by the RX companies). Actually, as you experienced, it's a withdrawal, similar to stopping Lortab. If you are taking this for depression, you may want to do some reading such as "Talking back to Prozac". The entire brain chemistry theory is just that, theory, not science. However, if you're taking this for anxiety, as needed may work for you, without the withdrawal issue, if used only a few times a week.
