My wife was on perdnisone for 10 days. About 2 weeks later she has developed a rash mostly on the upper legs, back and stomach. It comes and goes. The doctor will not say it could be fron this drug. He is treating it with cream. Will the rash go away and how long will it last.

Strange! I just Googled and found this because I am having the same issue! I had 5 days of Prednisone and here I am two weeks later with a skin rash on my stomach! I am trying to self treat, but it won't go away. Just wondered if there was a connection.
Our bodies give us a lot of signals that someting is going wrong, but it can be hard to diagnose the cause.
My wife started using Zyrtec. This helped with the rash. Another problem cropped up. Apparently my wife had blood in her urine and after tests they found a large kidney stone in her right uretha. It may have been there for about 7 months. The problem was that the stone did not cause any pain after the initial episode 7 months ago. It was blocking a lot of the toxins from being expelled, possibly causing an infection. The kidney stone has been removed and she has not had any more episodes of the rash in the last 2 weeks, without taking Zertec. The laser surgery was more difficult than expected, but her kidney will be fine. See a doctor about your rash and good luck.
I had 2 weeks of Prednisione 10mg x 2 a day and felt great. stoppeed the pill over a week ago and developed sore muscles and just feeling week! Then I got this red rash all over my body starting head down to th top of my legs! Not itchy, Dr said it is a virus subdued by the Pred for the last 2 or 3 weeks!! now on a steroid cream. How long does a rash like this last?
I just got off 10 days of the medication and 2 weeks and now I have a rash on upper legs, belly and on the bottom of arms
Your doctor is right. It has been too long a time span between stopping the medication and the rash appearing for them to be connected.
It is hard to know how long the rash will last. It will depend on the cause. Keep using the cream and avoid using harsh soaps or detergents.
Did your doctor think it was an allergic type rash? You could consider taking an anti-histamine tablet such as benadryl or cetririzine to help with the itch and allergy. See your doctor again if the rash does not go away.
