My son has been taking percocet for the pain in his back. Recently he was put on augmentin 875-125 for severe conjunctiveitis and a sore throat. He is having much difficulty urinating. Is this a side effect of the percocet or maybe the augmentin, or is this a new problem?

I am having the same problem. I take Percocet for my lower back. I was told that it could make me constipated but I'm having trouble urinating. I have the urge to go but when I try its as if I'm in labor trying to force it out. And only a little bit makes it out. What can I do about it? The Percocet is the only medicine that has helped my back problem and I really like the relief it gives me but not being able to urinate is ridiculous!!!
Sweetie, do you realize this question was asked in 2005? I'm not sure anyone will see your question - perhaps it would be better to starr a new question. Just don't want you to think you were being ignored -

yes it can cause water problems and stool problems i no i just came off the stuff when you had to take a crap omg it took about 5 days even more and when you went it felt like a army tank coming out dont mean to be nasty but this stuff is not good for you and you can get hooked also i was taking 5/325 and i only took it when i really needed it stay off this stuff. thanks nate
i had the same problem with urinating.. i stopped taking percocet last week and i can urinate fine now.. so i think it does something to our veins..
I have been on percocet many times due to operations and fractured bones. This usually happens due to a narcotic. The percocet will also give him constipation. When I take it it seems like my bladder is isnumb and sometimes i have to push and very little comes out. Percocet actually somewhat inhibits the urination due the pain killing effect. Make sure he drinks lots of water beacause it can dehydrate you quickly and cause his back even more pain due to him having to overwork his back muscles to tey to defacate.
