Will butrans work on the hip?

I would have to totally disagree as to placing the butrans patch anywhere. I have talked to my doctor as well as my pharmacist. Butrans patches should only be placed on the upper outter arm, upper back,chest and ribs on the side. the placement should also be on the left or right sides only. It may not work as well anywhere else due to the way its absorbed though the body. the more fat the harder it is to be absorbed. The patch should also be rotated throughout these places and not used in the same place until 21 days later. Yes,being a woman,these places are not the most pleasant or as comfortable but i feel the discomfort outweighs the benefit.

The patch can be placed virtually anywhere on your skin, it contains and delivers systemic and centrally working pain medication. It's effectivenes is not location specific.

When I was using them, my doctor told me that I could put them anywhere that was comfortable for me. So I wore them farther down my back than the patient info sheet said to and I didn't notice any difference in the level of relief. Hope this helps! :)
