I agree with what Janie has said, Also, the people that have the best results are the ones that take it on a daily basis's and it's good that the doctor has given you the alprazolam to take as needed when the Buspar just does not seem to be cutting it I would just continue with what you have if it seems to be keeping things under control. have a good day
I really don't know if it's helping my anxiety sometimes. I can't take ssri's due to their side effects.. Buspar has been really no side effects. Still deciding whether to stay on it or just do more Xanax! Lol.
Janie; Please if I am understanding you right you were just increased to 15mg twice daily RIGHT. please keep taking it on a regular basis for at least two weeks and try to use the alprazolam as needed. It well take about that long to get a steady blood level, my friend, then you can make a better judgement if it is worth taking Buspar is not really very good for a as needed basis. But if this works for you it means when you're having a bad attack the alprazolam well work that much better during a time of crisis.meaning when it is out of control. and please keep in contact with us we all suffer the same kind of junk as I call it.But we have to see how well the Buspar is really working with the dose increase and if for any reason you have to stop the Buspar I don't care what the doctor says we do get withdrawals from this so it needs to be tapped down. try and have a fantastic day.WE ARE HERE if you need us.
Yes.. I was increased from 7.5mg twice daily to 15mg twice daily.. It's now been 2 weeks. I'm planning to stick it out and give it a good chance to work. I rarely take the Lorazapan when stressed.. Thinking I need to take it more often. Still questioning the effectiveness of Buspar? Sometimes I think it's helping and not sure other times? How do we know if it works.. I do still have anxiety at times.
Ok, so I did get the dose right Buspar is hard to really tell how good it is working and you don't want to stop it to find out because many people have a hard time getting it to work again. You just have to think back at what you felt like prior to taking it. But it sounds to me like you are getting some benefits from it because you don't need the Lorazepam as often. And that is good.We all react differently On these medications and some have more problems with Buspar as far as it does not work at all or they say it works fantastic for them lets hope it could even get better for you since you have been on it with the new dose for 2 weeks I would give it a few more weeks for the total 15mg to really kick in. The biggest problem is some doctors say take as needed but Buspar does not work like that it has to be taken on a regular basis in order for it to work at it's best.
so try and stick with it for a couple of more weeks and your blood level well catch up with it.Then you should really know it the 15mg twice daily is working better than the 7.5mg was at twice daily. hope that helps you out some. stick with it.
Hi Allie-
I take buspar 10mg 2x a day. Buspar is a funny med. It works for some people and not at all for others. It takes the edge off my anxiety but does not get rid of it. It could take 7-14 days for the increase to build up in your system or it could help right away. It is a guessing game with Buspar, it is not a quick acting drug. Hope it all goes well with you :)
Thank you for your input! I've been on the low dose(15mg)a day for around 6 months. Some days I'd just get 1/2 that taken. Yes it takes edge off but still get breakthrough anxiety! I'm also on prn alprozalam, which I only take if needed.
