Can Buspar be effective taken only once daily? Preferred day or night? When does the dizziness go away? I’m scared to take in the morning and drive to work if dizzy but also scared to take at night because of reviews of bad dreams.
Also is it safe to drink a couple beers while on Buspar like socially at dinner?
Buspirone - Can Buspar be taken only once a day? How long before the dizziness goes away?

Great question. My understanding is Buspar is meant to be taken multiple times a day to maintain a steady rate in the body. For me the optimal dose timing is every 8 hours. I don’t think you’ll have success only taking this drug one time per day based on all the information I have read on this medication over the last 20 years. I’ve never had any bad dreams on Buspar and I’ve been taking it since 2001. I do occasionally get a little dizzy, but most often it makes me tired and sometimes hungry. I’ve had no “big” issues socially drinking while on Buspar, but I find combining alcohol and Buspar makes me very tired, like extremely hard to keep my eyes open tired some times. So I mostly have decided not to drink much. Please remember most people that post reviews are complaining, that’s human nature. Do not let the reviews of other “strangers from the internet” make you afraid to take a medication your personal doctor who actually knows you believes will help you. Better living through chemistry. 40 years ago people who had anxiety just had to suffer with it. We are all different, I hope this helps. Good luck to you.
Hi, lazykfarms!
No, because after about 6 hours there is only a minimal amount of the drug left in your system. The usual starting doses are 7.5mg twice daily or 5mg three times daily and that can be increased up to 60mg/day depending on response to the medication.
Side effects generally resolve within days to a week or so and they should lessen with each passing day.
As far as alcohol, some people can tolerate a drink or two but others may have a bad reaction.

Personally, I don't drink anyway but I've taken it for about four years with no side effects at all.
