Blood pressure is 148/90 is this considered high?

Yes, regardless of how old you are, both your Systolic (or top pressure) and your Diastolic are considered High Blood Pressure. It use to be a Diastolic reading of 90 was considered "border line" hypertension, but that has all changed over the past 20 years with more medical data to guide the medical profession. Most doctor realize or agree that a blood pressure of 120/80 is acceptable and for most normal. Now days most doctors like to see your Diastolic or bottom pressure below 80. You actually need to take or have your blood pressure taken over a period of different times and over a period of days to get a "mean average". I hope this helps.
