Age and race play a major role in which drug will work. . Normally an ace inhibitor like lisinopril but if African American a calcium channel blocker like amlodipine because ace inhibitors don’t work. If you’re under 50 sometimes a beta blocker like atenolol or carvedilol. Or labetal if a woman is pregnant . I hope this helps a little.
